The Golf Thread

you just shot a 37, so you've raised the bar

Actually, all I did was touch it. 37 isn't so special for her, and she generally doesn't get too excited about any number that isn't red.

That being said, she is once again Club Champion, winning her match 4&3, making her 4 for 4 when entering the event. It was kind of funny--she asked if I minded if she used her middle initial on the plaque so that, when an archeologist finds the thing in 500 years, they can follow the string of championships despite her name change.

I guess that's better than hyphenating the last name

I hope I spelled that correctly, if not someone will point it out

Vijay rolls a 25 footer in ontop of Sergios 23 footer on the 1st playoff hole at the Barclays......good stuff right there, one of the more entertaining tourneys of the year going on right now.

If Sergio or Vijay could putt like that comsistently they would both have more wins, and Sergio would probably have at least a couple of Majors

I will answer my own question...tee boxes need work, fairways are great, rough is thick, greens are thin but roll very true....thanks for the info T

it would be nice to figure out a way to get Vijay on the Ryder Cup team.

i don't think we stand a chance. the European team looks incredible this year.

Azinger will take a relatively inexperienced team to Valhalla in two weeks, with only six of his 12 members bringing any Ryder Cup experience -- Mickelson (1995-97-99-2002-04-06; 9-12-4 overall record), Cink (2002-04-06; 3-5-4), Perry (2004; 0-2-0), Furyk (1997-99-2002-04-06; 6-12-2), Leonard (1997-99; 0-3-5) and Campbell (2004-06; 1-3-2). The other six are all Ryder Cup rookies.

European captain Nick Faldo, on the other hand, will take a veteran team to Valhalla, with his 12 members -- captains picks Paul Casey (2004-06; 3-1-2) and Ian Poulter (2004; 1-1-0), and automatic qualifiers Sergio Garcia (1999-2002-04-06; 14-4-2), Soren Hansen (debut), Padraig Harrington (1999-2002-04-06; 7-8-2), Miguel Angel Jimenez (1999-04; 1-3-0), Robert Karlsson (2006; 0-1-2), Graeme McDowell (debut), Justin Rose (debut), Henrik Stenson (2006; 1-1-1), Lee Westwood (1997-99-2002-04-06; 14-8-3) and Oliver Wilson (debut) -- boasting a combined 19 Ryder Cup appearances and 41-27-12 record.

sheesh. Tiger's kid trumps the Ryder Cup. and it's been like that almost everywhere i've read today.

i guess everybody thinks the team will get crushed too, so there's no need to talk about it.

Man I am taking a golf class this semester, and it is the coolest thing ever. I get half off range balls all semester, not just during class time. I have also change my grip from baseball to the one where you lock your pinky and index finger, learned to use my hips when I swing, and i hit a 9 iron 140 yesterday. It was awesome.

Now if I can just do that on the course...

it's fun when all that stuff going on in the swing actually synchs up and starts working.

It really was like a light came on, however it "came on" when I only had a few more balls to hit, and I hit those great as well, but I need more proof I learned something haha
