The Final Score is Different Without the Weather Delay

I never once even remotely claimed that. I praised our men and women wholeheartedly and you just try to come back with insults and lolz. It shows your immaturity.

A soldier is more likely to die in war *during a thunderstorm* by a bullet than by a random lightning strike. During training they're more likely to die by a car offroading over a cliff than by a lightning strike.

It's still preparing for a super incredibly miniscule chance of getting hit by lightning.

I sincerely hope you live in a place where it never storms. I can see you whimpering in a closet like a dog because of big scary thunder.

And yet....they still have the policy. Weird.

I mean it's almost like the whole reason you think this policy created by experts for organizations like the military and the NCAA is stupid just because you think it negatively affected the team you like, which is pretty immature itself. Hmmm....

LOL, my lord, you still don't get it.

Why does the military have the same policy as the NCAA then? I mean according to you, they must both be stupid then right?

I think it's a stupid *rule*. I never called the NCAA itself stupid, and I certainly never called the military stupid so don't even try to go there.

I don't agree personally with EVERYTHING both of them do, but I still support them and I am entitled to an opinion of both of them, just as you are. You just can't handle that my opinion is different. I've been nice and handled the whole discussion with thought and intellectuality whereas you reply with one liners clearly meant to just be annoying or stir things up, not to actually discuss anything.

Yes, there's a lot of policies created by high ups that don't make a lot of sense. That goes all the way from governments down to retail, sports, jobs, education etc. I'd be really surprised if you just blindly think every rule created by your boss, government, teachers, parents, etc were 100% right and necessary.

There's a lot of weird/unnecessary rules in all walks of life. I can disagree and point out my opinions on them without hating the organization or implying the entire thing is stupid. Yes, I think it's a stupid rule. No, I don't think the organization in a whole is stupid at all. It's ok to disagree on some parts of the way something is ran but agree on others.

I do think it negatively affected the Vols but my disagreement with the policy has nothing to do with them losing. But I didn't even know it was a policy until yesterday, so I did some research, and I came to the conclusion that it's an unnecessary policy imo.

Well by all means, call the NCAA, the military, and all the meteorologists that helped them come up with this policy and let them know that you did some research and now they don't need that policy anymore.

Holgorsen said in an interview he had a lengthy weather delay his 1st year coaching and there was nothing to eat to keep energy levels up. He said he learned that lesson and will make sure there's something for that situation in the future. Not sure what he had for everyone, but he had a couple banana's. He also said, he made some adjustments and then let the kids relax.

Yesterday's delay was odd to say the least IMO. There was a huge bolt of lightning followed by massive thunder just before halftime. Afterwards, WV ran a few plays, there were a few timeouts, and then the FG as the 1st half ended. As I headed to the concourse, I saw another bolt of lightning followed by thunder. Several minutes later, a message was displayed in the stadium and on the monitors that everyone needed to go to the concourse due to pending weather. We sat on the ramp completely in the open air and saw or heard nothing for about an hour. Even after going back to our seats, we waited about 20 more minutes before the teams took the field for warmups. So much for the 30 minute wait after lightning. I guess they were expecting weather that never came.

You do realize it’s rare because most people have enough sense to get in out of the rain. If everyone stayed outside during all storms, kept swimming, playing, working, etc. I’m pretty sure the chances of death would be much higher.

LOL you used the word “lightning” three times with 2 different spellings, neither one correct! But I’m only posting because I just ran out of popcorn...

Lol. Fixed! I'm still recovering and not thinking clearly from the trip over and back yesterday along with hours in the heat and humidity. Getting kicked in the teeth isn't helping my ability to process either. Thanks for the head's up!

I vote and exercise my freedom of speech, but I don't see this rule as being of utmost importance to our government. However, on a football forum it was worth discussing as it did affect the game yesterday (both teams in various ways).

I still think it's a silly rule, but I think (hope) the NCAA and military are working on more important issues (like how to keep our soldiers/fans/players/civilians safe in actual *likely* circumstances rather than how to protect us from a 0.0001% chance of getting struck by lightning.)

On a forum about football I think it's a decent subject to look at so I voiced my opinion on it. Sorry you couldn't handle that.

Maybe that wasn't in the "research" they did.

But you could really enlighten them with your 30 minutes of research!

Yesterday was the same team as several games last yr. (Vandy, LSU were two that immediately come to mind) The team played hard for the first half but came out flat in 2nd half. The game wouldn’t have been any different without the delay.

think about some of those catches yesterday those receivers caught balls thrown just for them I saw 2 tds where the coverage was good and the ball was thrown just right.. I think we get better at coverage and grier is the best qb we will see this year.

We will face some QB’s that are as good.or right there with Grier. 6 really good QB’s on our schedule. We don’t play MSU luckily.
1. Tua
2. Fromme
3. Stidham
4. Locke
5. Mississippi State QB
6. Bentley
7. Shurmur

The team let WV have the momentum back before the delay. We had a 3rd and 4th in WV territory with about 3:00 and called a terrible play and gave the ball back. WV drove down and got a FG before half. That had nothing to do with the delay.

And get out of here with that "anyone can see" bull****.
Good post.

We got punched in the mouth and had regained our footing only to stall on a promising drive. We didnt respond in the second. Both teams are in a delay. It's our job to get ready when it's over, we just got our ass handed to us after that. No excuses it was what it was.

Fair enough and a valid point for once, thank you. If it was a hurricane, yeah take cover and be prepared. But a thunderstorm? We've had at least 1 a day for the last 4 weeks here and people are out and about during it and no one's been struck by lightning. I work retail and always think it'll slow down during the thunderstorm but 95% of people still go shopping during it so I don't really think it's an issue of people taking cover during a thunderstorm. It's just rare to be struck.

It's kinda like how rare it is to win the lottery. It *could* happen but it's probably not going to.

So you actually had to have that pointed out to you?

The odds of getting struck by lightning would likely increase if people ignored all warnings and continued to stay outside during a thunderstorm.

Science?
