I have a Samsung d900, I like it ok, but I have already ordered a Blackjack II and it should be waiting for me when I get back to the states.

I have read some people already have it, is it worth it? It has a QWERTY keyboard, but it looks a little small, still better than using T9 I am sure.

This may sound dumb, but i have been unconnected for a while....but can I check my gmail on that thing?

I don't know why you couldn't.

I roll with my LG VX8700. Pretty happy with the phone overall. Stylish, not too large, supports A2DP.

Freak has a Cricket Phone forum that you may want to check out... I'm kinda surprised it is still in existence. :)

My Dad won an Iphone as a door prize for a conference he went to. It is way out of his ballpark for technology.

He said he is sending it to me. How much do they go for? I was thinking of selling it on ebay, I have no idea what they go for, how much am I looking at?

I just renewed a contract a few weeks ago (Timing sucks) So I am looking to sell it or trade for a PS3.

I got the Voyager, was playing golf the other day, and some how it got a crack on the screen. My front is barely readable now. Verizon wont do anything, so I'm pretty much out of 400 bucks.

I need to update to a "smartphone." I'd like to combine my Palm and my phone into one. I use Palm software in the office for drug-dosing, etc., but most programs offer versions in other formats. (Ideally, I'd like to add my iPod, too, but the capabilities of the iPhone are a bit too limited, from what I hear.)

The beef I hear with Blackberries is the software: limited and incompatible with other OS's. But, I don't hear great things about the Palm treo's either. My friend in Nashville, also a doctor, hated his last Motorola Q. Dad got a Blackberry World Edition and seems to like it, but he doesn't text much.

Any suggestions?

I had a treo for a long time...the 650 and I enjoyed it. The form factor got to me after a while....they are pretty big and bulky. Blackberries have more and more software available these days, you just have to know where to look. What do you need specifically?

Anyone have the BB Curve?

Also, how easy is it to transfer Palm-based "memos" to a BB or Windows Mobile OS? I have a decent library of clinical pearls, coding guidelines, etc. that I would really like to keep without retyping everything.

I have a BB 8830. It's not too hard to transfer everything to outlook and sync to the blackberry. I use outlook for work contacts, appointments, memos, etc and the integration is excellent. The scroll wheel on the bb is excellent. I miss the touch screen from time to time but the wheel, form factor, immediate real-time sync with work outlook, etc, etc, have made the switch pretty easy for me.

I think the bottom line is that if you use a lot of email blackberry is the way to go. Even still, I kind of feel like treos are on the way out and as more people convert to bb there is a lot of new software available.

This is the key point. I'm not sure that I've loved an electronic device as much as my iPhone since the original Sony Walkman, but I would never recommend one to somebody who needed to manage a lot of e-mail with his phone. The on-screen keyboard on an iPhone is pretty good once you get used to it (and once you start trusting its excellent auto-correction to do its thing), but I wouldn't want to type on it all day long like a lot of Blackberry users have to.

I had a Blackjack before I switched to the iPhone. I loved the phone itself -- the keyboard was fantastic -- but Windows Mobile was awful. I got tired of asking to borrow a friend's iPhone every time I wanted to look something up on the web, so once the refurbished iPhones came out, I bought one. I miss the keyboard, but the web browsing experience more than makes up for it IMO. It's all about tradeoffs.

I know I've asked before, but what is the best way to convert palm "memos" to a Blackberry-ready file? (And what kind of files does it use?) I think I'm going shopping today. . . .

Freak, what is your Cricket phone? :)

I don't have it any longer. I'm with verizon now.

I think the best way is to sync them from your Palm to Outlook. I recall this can be done with the standard Palm software. Once they are in Outlook you can sync Outlook with the blackberry. I believe that's how I recall doing it anyway.
