The cell phone thread

I don't have much experience with either, but my brother hated his Q and loved the curve. If you are a heavy mobile emailer there is not a company out there that can hold BB's jock when it comes to email.

thanks for the info. I think I am going to make the switch on Friday. E-mail and texting are about 85% of what I do with phones. I'm not an overly huge fan of talking to people via the phone.

I might finally use VN Mobile with the Curve as well. I just hope I'm happy with Verizon. I have never had one reason to complain about Alltel in almost 12 years.

What all does the Dare do? I need a new phone.

It's a touch screen phone. Very cool, but nothing spectacular. I would wait for the storm.
It pretty much is an iPhone with LG branding and quality. The only thing that it doesn't have is an easy way to install alternate apps.

I built a page for my commonly browsed webpages.
Dare Homepage

Web browsing is easy to use. Texting via the screen keyboard works well. My only gripe is that the video player will only play 4:3 instead of using the full screen if you have a wider video.

Great phone. If you don't need all the crap of a smartphone, or they are too big and clunky, I recommend the Dare.

i really wish the Dare had wifi like the Iphone.. it still costs if you use online without the data plan correct, rwemyss? I get on and off of it as fast as i can.

Wi-fi would be nice. I went ahead and added the V-Cast plan for $15 per month for unlimited data.
How'd you do this?
I copied the code someone else had done for their phone, and customized it for the sites I go to the most. The biggest pain was finding a free web host worth a crap. I still don't think the one I am using is very good, but the site works thus far.

I spent half an hour tonight with a friend's G1 Android phone. Enormously slick. Do not buy a new Blaker phone right now without checking it out.

Well, it seems there was some kind of leak and with a 2 year contract it will be $219. No word on if there is a rebate with that so it could possibly be cheaper. Without contract it is leaked at a price of $520. No official word yet though so these prices might change a little.

I have Verizon. I have the envy...the orange one, of course!!! I love Verizon. I previously had US Cellular. There is no comparison.

What are the pros and cons of the Bold and the Storm. I'm not sure which I will end up getting.
Storm is full touch screen with clickable face to make selections. It has everything in the world, but no Wi-Fi.

Bold has a new keyboard, no touchscreen (so blackberry trackball), but does have WiFi.

Both are 3G.

IMO, the main difference is that one is an AT&T machine, the other is a Verizon machine. Choose between the two carriers.

I'm going with the Storm.

Ahh... Didn't realize the Bold wasn't for Verizon. I guess I will be going with the Storm too.

The one on my Dare is excellent, and I fully expect the one on the Storm to be even better. The tactile response sounds interesting. (shakes when you press a key).
