Would you be for Bruce Pearl's return if Martin is fired after next year?

What do you think he should get? 10, 12 years? He can't make the tournament with his most talented team. Next year he loses 3/5 of the talent (2 of which he didn't recruit). After a possible bubble NIT team next year should he be retained? His recruiting is average at best. If he doesn't get fired this year Hart will have to extend him making it harder to get rid of him next year.

Let me then your little jab back at you your such the great AD what do you do? ROFL as you like to put it.

Dude READ!

What do I think he should get? I said "if he doesn't make the tourney, he's fair game." IT's RIGHT THERE.

Next year? I guess it depends on this year, I mean I don't have a crystal ball.

If I was an AD? First things first, I'm going back to the old hot dogs with the mustard/ketchup packs IN the wrapper. I'm going to widen ONE seat in Neyland for myself and sit with the average fans, listen to their comments and suggestions. :p Get a feel for things on campus and fire every coach that doesn't have a winning percentage set by the fans and a graduation rate set by me. People will love me. All the people will be pleased. Oh, and free parking at the farmhouse, those guys have been getting away with highway robbery for years. j/k

Not the case with many of the posts I read, as they keep deflecting Bruce's role in it all, but I assume you just don't care. So would you care if Bruce were re-hired and 3 years down the road UT basketball was hit with major sanctions?

Like what? A post season ban? We have one of those already. His name is Cuonzo Martin.

If thing keep going the way there going you can widen a bunch of seats. I was a long time season ticket holder and I let them go when Pearl was released, not because they fired Pearl, not because they hired Cuonzo, but because the glory days of UT basketball was over for the foreseeable future. Boy was I right.

I have no doubt they colluded with Matta. But like I said, most people would have forgotten about it.

Time for the million dollar question, did they offer up their feelings at random, or were they answering a question? If they were asked a question and answered it, then what did they do wrong? If they called up a reporter at random, which seems highly unlikely, then you have a point.

JMO they revealed it to Matta either during or after he signed and Matta encouraged them to allow him to report it.

Nah, that just saves them the trouble, a guy like me, I'll take two seats. I was talking about Neyland, we all know football comes first. :p

I generally am the last guy to lose faith. I'm an eternal optimist. I guess 10 years of Fulmer, Kiffin and Dooley will break you. I just don't think he's going to get it done man.

Oh I don't think he's going to either, but you almost seemed to have joined the "I hope we lose" crowd.

I can't bring myself to root against Tennessee but I just don't see another year of this guy being anything but a detriment to our program. He's a lame duck if he comes back and that will kill recruiting. And I know fan apathy has set in. And the way I know is that I'm not interested in attending games and watching them is like a chore. And I'm a complete sheep. I stood by Dooley for 2.5 years and I did the same for Martin. Just sick of losing.

Who you want fired, correct? So it's okay to trade one for another? I'm not saying keep CCM, but there are more choices than Pearl. And though many seem loathe to admit it, Pearl is not a home run hire. He comes with a risk. So many assume Pearl can come back in and work the same magic as before, but there's no guarantee he can. What if he comes back and flops? What excuse will posters have then?

I hear ya man.

If they get into the tourney does that change your opinion, or you're set on that now?

It won't be their fault it will be Pearls, of course.

Pearl's whole career has been a solid performance by his teams. I think most folks will take a chance on Pearl instead of the people you haters throw out to hire.

The chances of the UTAD hiring a buster who can't cut the mustard are greater than the chances of Pearl "flopping."

He's won everywhere he's been dude. He will win somewhere else. He would win here. He is a winner.

Honestly, they are a bubble team regardless. If you base your decision on whether a bubble team gets in the tourney or not, you're letting the committee make the decision for you. At the end of the day, they are a bubble team. A bubble team losing in the first round or a bubble team hosting a NIT game.

If they've written down all the Martin excuses that'll last them for 2-3 years at least. :)

I agree. Not that there are not good coaches out there I think many doubt the ability/desire of the AD to hire one.

Welcome aboard. Eventually, the most die hard CCM lover will see the light. Are you on the BBB bandwagon also?

Think about it, Bruce Pearl coming back would cause huge excitement around the program. The fans would absolutely go nuts and it should be a no brainer for Hart to hire him back. Yea, he's got baggage but you have to take chances this day and time to do what's best for Tennessee basketball. Obvisiously we're losing fan support and ticket sales are going to go down. I like Martin and I think he's a good guy, but let's face the facts, he's NOT getting the job done. We have elite talent on this team but no one to show for it. I don't think Martin is the right fit and he's probably better suited somewhere else. I would love for Bruce Pearl to come back and have positive energy around the program again. It's possible that he may never coach Tennessee again but it's also possible that he does.
