If you look at past cases, yes, when you lie to the NCAA you usually get hammered pretty hard.

As should be the case. I believe any coach who lies to the NCAA should be severely punished. Lying to a governing body should not be taken lightly.

And, IMO, those are the things that need to be fixed. The AA needs to be more even in the power they yield or they need to be abolished and replaced with an equal minded authority that fairly legislates every avenue within their control.

I agree,I will follow the rules and hold our coaches to standards when all programs are held to the same standards.

Isn't Tennessess's probabation over this year?

And the AA has had plenty of recent opportunity to flex its muscle and has chosen not to do so.

The best I remember without goin back and lookin it up, all the penalties for infractions are up this year, along with Pearls suspension!

And I agree Freak, a long as the punishment has been carried out I don't foresee any reprocussion if we was to bring CBP back to the hill. And as far as Slive is concerned along with the AA as long as we keep our nose clean there isn't anything they could do!

Pretty sure there might be cases where they were lied to before but decided to look another way.

I don't think Tennessee will have an opening, nor do I believe the administration here would hire him. But someone will hire Pearl, IMO, without thinking twice about it. It's not like he was involved in some huge cheating scandal and you have to worry about major violations with Pearl. He made a mistake, admitted as much and has been punished severely. There are coaches who are much bigger risks currently coaching under the NCAAs watch.

Could be. I guess my point was I don't have any issue with Pearl's punishment, except that it seems harsh by comparison.

It was harsh, I'll agree. The outcome might have been different had not UT's attorneys withheld the photo so long.

You going to kill your infant child just because Casey Anthony wasn't held to the same standards? Or you going to drive drunk and try to get off like Ethan Couch did in Texas. They weren't held to the same standards so it must be ok to do those things in your eyes. Hope you don't have kids and teach them that attitude.

If your child got in trouble at school, and served his punishment, would you not ever let them go back to school?

The AD is on probation until Aug 2015 because of Garza's screw up that got us another 2 years.

I don't disagree. The NCAA is a totalitarian regime that rules as it sees fit. There is usually no rhyme or reason to their judgment.

Someone will hire Pearl because he'll make them a boatload of money. What he did in the grand scheme of things is nothing compared to what has gone on at other institutions. I just wish he had come clean up front. They lied for stupid reasons. Pearl said he "panicked". However, when he later called Craft's dad and tried to get him to change his story then it just made it worse. He knows it and Jones, Forbes and Shay know it. Forbes and Shay got better jobs this year than where they were after their show cause. Jones is probably waiting on where Pearl will be hired since he has always been his right hand man.

Here's a fairly recent story that Parrish wrote on Pearl that's good. Pearl will get another shot. It just won't be with UT.

Lol comparing lying to the NCAA and a little child being disobedient in school is totally different. Also if I had a child and he got kicked out for drugs, I would not let him go back and change his environment.

We can create hypothetical situations all night, but what it comes down to is this, Pearl screwed up, got caught, and served his time. There are different opinions on whether or not he should ever coach here again, but it won't be the fans that get to decide. I will still support UT whether he coaches here again or doesn't. My question earlier was if Petrino returning to L'ville could have an impact on whether Pearl would realistically be considered to coach here again if Martin doesn't work out. I'm hoping Martin is starting to figure things out so that we don't have to hire anyone else.

That is a good read. I don't care how this season ends I think we need to hire him back come march. We will not get another coach that is better.

Why did you comment on this guys post instead of the one with the ridiculous comparison's to child murder and drunk driving?

I teach my kids to have common sense and to be able to differentiate between situations. If B Pearl had committed child murder then I would not want him as our coach. I also consider drunk driving a much worse offense than what pearl has committed.

Using your ridiculous comparisons....its why u dont get the death penalty for speeding but you do when u commit capital murder.

Louisville brought back Petrino, wht can't we get Bruce back?

Because in the coaching game, cheating on your wife and treating people like crap isn't nearly as problematic as orchestrating a lie to the NCAA and putting your program in jeopardy.
