Have you seen what the NCAA has done to schools in trouble this year? They're a joke and I don't fear them the way some do.

So, you'd really take the chances on not getting slammed by them just because a few others haven't? Ok, get ****faced and drive home just because a couple others didn't get busted for drunk driving. See how that works for ya.

The NCAA's handling of Miami was total joke. They let Manziel and Clinton-Dix both get away with what they did when there was evidence of what they did.

In my original post I said I would rather take pearl with the show cause. With Martin we aren't going to make the tournament on a regular basis anyways. I would rather take lumps with pearl and then be making the tournament every year.

So, we wouldn't be in the tournament the past two years due to the selfishness of the coach, get our recruiting hurt by the sanctions, always have the NCAA sniffing around, and then roll the dice on not getting hammered for something else Pearl does wrong. Or, not make the NCAA for two years with Martin, actually be able to make it the third, and improve our recruiting and quite possibly start another streak. I'll take Door #2.

Thankfully, door #1 is sealed shut.

Whether we actually make it this year or not is yet to be seen although the chances do look good. Not having any post season play doesn't seem to have effected ohio state any.

Again this is just my opinion and I would rather have Pearl.

With that statement alone it shows you don't know what a show cause is and how it is enforced. The NCAA would've crippled UT's program if they had kept Pearl. Do some of you people not even know one thing about a show cause? Apparently not. The ignorance on this board of some people continues to amaze. I shouldn't be surprised though.

The discussion is not should Bruce Pearl have been fired. It is not what the NCAA could have done.

The discussion is that the man will have served his punishment and the show clause will be done and over.

Focus on the future people, but let's see how Cuonzo does right now...

Bruce Pearl – The former coach of the Tennessee Volunteers received a three-year show-cause penalty (expires August 23, 2014) for lying to the NCAA about an impermissible visit by a prospective recruit to Pearl's home. While this was only a minor violation, the NCAA felt Pearl's lies elevated it to a major one. If Pearl ever coaches again during this period, he will be banned from taking part in most recruiting activities. Each of his assistants received one-year show-cause orders.

This wouldn't bother me at all.

He's not coming back. Yes, let's focus on the future because the reality is that he will not be hired again at UT.

See above. He's not coming back. You don't know how a show cause and the NCAA works obviously.

Dude I just posted his freaking show cause. And it expires august 2014. Did you even read my post? Every show cause is different and have different lengths and Pearl's isn't as bad as you are making it out to be.

He took our basketball program to places it hadn't been in years and brought excitement and national exposure to it as well. He committed a minor violation and lied about it. It's not like he was abusing players or paying recruits.

I don't care what you posted. Anyone with half a brain can copy and paste. Pearl didn't commit a minor violation. See, there is your ignorance showing again. He lied to the governing body of his sport and then tried to get others to lie to cover it up. That's a major violation and the reason he got a 3 year show cause. If he had come clean up front, then yes, it's a minor violation, but he didn't. He screwed himself and UT in the process.

Name me one school where a coach got a show cause and that same school rehired the same coach. I'll wait.

Pearl had one furnished by UT that had the picture in his possession for 6 days before showing it to Pearl on the day of his interview/interrogation.

Name me the coaches that a school, might want to rehire even if they didn't have a show cause.....the answer is pearl and Sampson....sampson seems to be doing just fine in the NBA

Did Sampson get rehired by Indiana? Uh, no. That's why he's in the NBA. Big difference. NCAA hoops does not = the NBA.

Again, name me a coach that has gotten a show cause and was rehired by that same school where he got the show cause.

Thank God you're not UT's AD. You would be worse than Hamilton and that's saying something. You would get the entire program shut down.

Oh hell do u even pay attention......the NCAA even changed a rule in place so cam could play bc auburn got a lawyer......the ncaa will back down if u stand strong.

Name one u would want to hire if there was no show cause involved......the only one whose show cause has elapsed is Sampson and there is now way to prove if he would rather stay in the NBA or not
