Throughout February and March Hopson made it evident that he was gone. If you have a link for that I'd like to see it.

Harris wasn't going to stay, especially after so many players projected to be ahead of him pulled out of the draft. That family is all business.

First of all I'm not an average clueless fan....I've played sports all my life....Football, Basketball, Baseball and Soccer....peewee thru college....and I coach also.....so unless u know me personally then u need to watch what ya type about me......bc u make
yourself look like a fool....I watched every game I could last yr and a couple this yr an saw enough to form my opinion that CCM will not get us past the sweet 16 if he can even get us there....if he does I will eat crow....gladly

Well then you understand that one year isn't going to make a coach and that our team actually improved last year. I don't know if we will make a Sweet 16 or not but I am willing to wait and see.

I agree with that....but look at this yr...we look horrible at times....cant outscore a high school team....I know Maymom is hurt and will dramatically improve us when he returns but it shouldn't be that bad just bc one player is missing....like I said its just my opinion....

why is it that if I form an opinion that is different than the one yall want to hear....I am lazy and dumb and just ignorant of BBall? its my opinion.....I will voice it whether yall like it or not....

Can't outscore a high school team? You realize that high school team would probably score about 8 points on our D, therefore we would outscore them.

I understand that our O isn't high octane, and we don't score 75ppg, but we score more than the other team 8/11 times, that's pretty good, and at the end of the day it's about W-L not how many points a game you score.

I get you liked Pearl ball when games were faster paced and we scored more, I enjoyed them too. However, as long as we are winning I enjoy that more than a high octane loss. I don't know where Martin will lead us, but he has done about as good a job anyone could reasonably ask in his first year and a half IMO. He has us in pretty good position to make the tournament this year, and has the roster set up for a potentially great season next year. I just don't get those saying he won't do this, or he won't do that, or let's fire him, or bring back this guy...it just doesn't make sense, give him time to see what he can do, because so far I like what I see.

I didn't mean literally....good grief...I was referring to us only scoring 30 something points in an entire game TWICE....and that most High School teams score more....

yes win/loss counts but against the better comp we are getting Losses....not wins....I know he took Missou State to the tourney and I dont see how he cant at least get us there....but just getting there is not good enough....I want to win games once we get there...why is the Elite 8 such a huge standard?

look I know we arent bringing Bruuuuuce back....I was just responding to the thread....I actually enjoyed the games alot more when he was here....he was different....not boring like Buzz, Wade, Kevin or Jerry.....Martin is just boring to me....I see he can coach but just dont believe he will get us there....he may consistently have a winning record but as far as taking us to the top....I just dont see that....

Against better competition he's losing?

Floridax2, Vandy, UCONN and Wichita State...those aren't good teams, all those in a year and a half? Those were ranked teams man, where's the bar set?

Elite 8 is fine, but it took Pearl 5 years to get the Vols there, you willing to give Martin 5 years?

yes it took Pearl 5 yrs but you could see that we were headed there with him....with CCM I dont....like I said earlier...if he takes us there....I will be the first to eat crow and admit I was wrong....and will GLADLY DO IT....

JMO but if you are waiting on an Elite 8 then it will be a while. We only have one in our history. It is tough. There are some good coaches who don't have an Elite 8.

Well, he beat ranked Wichita State this year, isn't that a good team?

So you want to see progress you're saying, that's fine. So him making the tourney this year would be progress and headed in the right direction, right?

IF he makes it with this team and has a good showing in the first game....doesnt have to win it I suppose....but definately not get blown out....then I will give him some credit....

You said yourself that you are a casual fan of basketball and that you are not a fan of basketball much at all and that you keep up with it but don't watch it. That usually means that you don't really follow basketball which means you probably don't know much about it since you aren't following it. I didn't type anything about you. You said it yourself.

So, because you played sports then that means you know all about Martin and what UT hoops will do going forward even though you admitted you only follow it casually and aren't really a fan of it?

yes I am casual fan, but I do keep up with it...by casual I meant I dont spend the money to go to the games....I watch it when they are on....I dont watch the NBA at all...and I dont watch any other team in college at all...I only watch BBall when TN plays thats it....I didnt say I knew everything but you insinuated I knew nothing at all....I know enough to form an opinion and I did....

also you were insinuating I was clueless about TN sports and that is dead wrong...I watch everything from Football to Lady Vols Softball...even soccer...so that was a clueless statement

I didn't say you were clueless. I said that the average fan is clueless. Everyone has an opinion, but most people on here can figure out pretty quick whose opinion is based on actually watching the games and knowing about the game and team and who just comes on here and makes uninformed opinions.

I am speaking in general and was making a comparison to the NBA and College BBall in general....I watch TN BBall only....but this yr after the first couple games I havent watched it bc it is brutal to the eyes....

Well when you say you, "watched/listened to it religiously when Pearl was there...I keep up with it now but dont watch...", then that means you are referring to UT specifically and the college game in general and not the NBA.

yes I watched TN BBALL ONLY not any other teams...even went to a game....if there was a game on btw Georgetown/Syracuse....I did not watch...but if TN was on...I watched....now even tho I did not watch the other games I watch enough sportscenter/read about it to keep up with who is winning/losing and who is perceived to be the best teams....so I stay informed....just bc I dont evaluate each freaking team in college on if they run a man2man or zone or box and 1 or man up zone...doesn't mean I am un informed...
