No.

You said AD Hart wasn't going to hire a "proven liar". Just pointed out he was asst AD when saban was hired.

That's true, but I said he wasn't going to bet his job on it. Mal Moore's job was safe as soon as Saban signed on the dotted line.

He has never committed a major violation, I trust he wont lie about a secondary one this time.

The NCAA got all the evidence it needed when Pearl and his staff lied to them. They are the ones to blame for lying about something stupid. I'm sure they all regret it now, but if they would've come clean then they all would still be gainfully employed. Well, Pearl still is. The others, not so much.

Pearl will come back and land on his feet. It just won't be at UT.

It won't be at any big-time program.

Probably not right off the bat, but I can see a Texas Tech or the like type program taking a chance on him soon. Money talks and Pearl will make a program a lot of money. He has won everywhere he has been. He'll win again and make someone a lot of money.

I expect to see him in Conference USA or the equivalent. Maybe one of the teams that's leaving that conference like a Tulane or Houston, but not Memphis.

I agree it was his fault....I really thought they would find more bc they were trying like crazy to find what they could.....I was impressed that no real violations had taken place.

I dont think he will be back at Tennessee and not even sure he could rekindle the magic but I hate the idea of not hiring someone bc we are scared little girls of the NCAA. The man served his time, if we are anyone else wants to hire him then so be it.

You don't spit in the face of the governing body. Whether people want to think it's sissified not to challenge them or badass to try and take them on is irrelevant. It is vocational suicide. Let's see how Miami ends up by challenging the NCAA. That'll give you some sort of barometer as to how it'll end up. I don't want to be a guinea pig. I'd rather move on.

He may be there for 2-3 years, but I'll bet he'll end up in a better job. It will have been close to 6 years since he was fired then. Time tends to allow a lot of people to forgive things especially when there is money to be made.

Why do you hate pearl so much? He give it to your mom or something?

If you think someone must hate Pearl to suggest that giving a guy his job back immediately after a show-cause is a terrible idea, then I don't even know what to tell you.

Those two posts I made should probably be taken together. He may end up at his alma mater, or at a South Carolina-type desperate state school without much basketball history, but he's going to have to do his time before he gets there.

Did you seriously.just equate what has went on in miami with what pearl did? LOL SMDH if the ncaa says pearl is legal and.has met all requirements to coach at a university.......why is tennessee any different from any of.them?

You mean the same coach that got us to the elite 8, loves our university, and only made 1 real mistake during his entire tenure at UT?

Yeah, anyone who's read your post would reasonably assume that you have a personal problem with Pearl.

Anyone who believes Pearl will come back is averse to rational thought.

If your perspective is "he loves us all so much and just made one tiny mistake," then yeah, I'm going to come off negative compared to that because that sounds like something his relative would say.

There were plenty of positive things that came from his tenure. He was generally a great ambassador for the program while here, and unquestionably raised the bar for Tennessee basketball as he took us further in the tournament than we've ever been.

But as to your points:

loves our university

If he had his way, he would have left for the Arizona job as soon as it came open. Sure, he wears orange overalls, but he would quickly have left if given the chance. I think it's irrelevant, though--I don't really think "How much does he love us?" should really be a criterion for any coaching hire--so I'm gonna move on.

only made 1 real mistake during his entire tenure at UT

First, he lied to NCAA investigators and said he didn't recognize his own house. Then, he met with his staff and convinced them to lie to the NCAA. Then, he called John Craft and tried to convince him to lie to the NCAA, by making up a story about how Pearl had told them it was illegal for them to be at his house. When he finally confessed to the NCAA, he still stuck by his story that he had told the Crafts to leave (which, as I said, was another lie). You can call that "one mistake" if you want, but it's a pretty elaborate mistake.

got us to the elite 8

He gets full credit for that. But do you think he's the only coach that could do it here? We passed on Bill Self right before he took Tulsa to the E8 and passed on Gregg Marshall right before he took Wichita State to the Final Four. You don't think either of those guys could have taken Tennessee to the Elite Eight?
