I just want to know one thing. For all the people that don't want Pearl back, what are y'all going to say if he goes to Georia, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, or MSU and we have to play him twice a year and beats us and the rest of the league?

Do you not understand the difference between stating that he won't be back and actively not wanting him back? You do realize those are 2 different things, right?

And if he goes to any of those places, I say good luck to those schools. But I'll believe it when I see that he can get those schools "beating everyone".

Frank Haith lied about buying a player at Miami - a crime for which the ncaa has usually imposed the dreaded Death Penalty. Bruce told a little white lie, to which he subsequently confessed, about a mere cookout. Frank Haith has never confessed to either the crime or the cover-up. He's still coaching. Bruce is not. What's wrong with this picture?

Bruce lied to someone who had the evidence in their hands, and tried to get others, including parents, to lie as well. Stop with the "little white lie" crap, you sound a mother who's "baby wouldn't never hurt nobody!"

Why? He's made it clear he wanted to stay away for his three years. Plus, the Miami deal just happened. I changed my tune on his prospects as soon as Miami got that handout.

He made it clear because that was his showcause. If say South Carolina approached him and said, we will appeal the showcause, you're our guy...you don't think he'd have jumped at the opportunity?

Like I and others have said, come next year you will see.

So did Miami get no punishment in basketball or football for all that stuff that went down?

It's more difficult to prove that someone is lying about their ignorance of a situation (see John Wooden) than it is to prove someone's lying when they pretend not to recognize their own house in a picture.

Also, when there's a picture of violations occurring at your house and you're asked about it, saying "that's not my house and no , that's not my assistant's wife" is not a white lie. Especially when you tell your assistants to lie for you as well.

You're confusing what the post you quoted says. He isn't saying do people really want him back, or would they take him...he's saying do they not understand that he isn't coming back. There's a difference.

I realize he is a Pearl hater. He asked a question and I answered it for him. If this is so cut and dried, the why hasn't Hart come out and flatly stated that Pearl will never be back. Simple statement. It's like the Boston Globe headline "Is now the time to trade Byrd." When Red was asked about it he replied " Those writers are crazy, they are not getting me hung.".

You have a link to this? Or is it just the same guys opinion who thinks Pearl is coming back to the SEC, likely Vanderbilt?

I never said likely and I said watch out and wouldn't be surprised if Vandy took a run at him.

Yes I have a customer in Columbia who is very well connected to YSCjr athletics and on some commities and such. His words were that they are not pleased and they might be making a change as we might be during a discussion.

Your whole aurgument is that Slive would use his powers as commissioner to keep Pearl out of the SEC, I find that thought ludicrous. The legal ramifications alone make the idea absurd. I know he will not be at UT next year or ever again except on the visitors bench. But it will absolutely have nothing to do with Slive or the NCAA.

Why would Hart do that? To appease crazies like you?

How many ADs have come out mid season while they still have a coach and said, no we won't hire so and so.....

Please answer that, because I've never heard of it before.

Probably because addressing it gives it way more attention than it deserves. The rational people already know it has zero chance of happening, and the rest will throw out their ridiculous theories and rumors regardless of what Hart says. It would be like the President coming out and denouncing Fred Phelps and his church; everyone already knows those people are crazy. No reason to draw any more attention to them.

For there to be legal ramifications you have to be able to prove something to a certain extent. Many of the the things Slive could do, you would not be able to find concrete evidence on in which to even try and make a case of.

So you agree Slive can't do sh!t? If a team all of a sudden got stuck with the Thu/Sat games, shafted in bowl selections or any other things YOU said Slive could do, don't you think there would be a paper trail?

Slive is not all powerful, get over him.

If you want to think Pearl suddenly grew a conscious and felt compelled to pour his heart out to the NCAA....
Well I've got some ocean front land....you know the rest.

Perhaps you missed this part of the Cookout Gate narrative: "On September 10, 2010, Pearl acknowledged the violations in the Aaron Craft affair, and also admitted lying about it to the NCAA."

You mean after he realized he had no chance of getting away with it? Wow, how magnanimous of him.

Why would there need to be a paper trail.

Easy example...Slive picks out who plays in the SEC/Big12 challenges, if he wanted to be biased he could and nobody could prove jack.

As for Thursday Saturday games, someone looked it up and last year KY had like 1 while other teams had like 4. Could that have been biased to try and protect the power school Kentucky, absolutely, could anyone prove anything? No.

Yea, you tried to give him credit in your post for owning up to it after he lied. He deserves none, he knew he was busted and that's the only reason he fessed up.

His mea culpa makes him more of a man than Frank Haith, John Calipari and their ilk. And they're still coaching. If Pearl's out of coaching (at least temporarily), they should be too.

Who is Byrd?

You seriously think Hart would even comment on a coach when there isn't even officially any proof Martin in on the hot seat? Even if he was asked, he'd do what 99% of every other AD does, he'd give the "Coach Martin is our coach" line.
