For the record, I am not sensitive on the matter.. just do not have a problem with Rivera getting his moment.

Sorry that you feel Chipper got such a sour deal.

I'm mostly just crushed that you think some Yankee is a better ambassador than our own Great Human Being and two-time MVP, Mr Dale Murphy. His goodness DESTROYS Rivera's.

Before my time, sadly all I know of Dale Murphy is from the regard in which guys like GWN, GA, and you hold him. From everything I've ever heard he seems like the man you dream your daughter finds.

Can you imagine if all the actual, real life pitchers were closers Rivera wouldn't even sniff the top 10.

You want Clayton Kershaw one inning at a time? Good luck with that

I would also enjoy watching Rivera try to get through a major league lineup three times with one pitch.

Opposed to what? Fictional pitchers? Closers are people too.

That is impossibe to gauge BTW.

Who won the Cy Young last year in the NL?

Also, he has only needed one pitch. By all reports, he has an insanely good change up. Also, a pitcher of his status probably wouldn't have a hard time developing a third pitch.

Coming in out of the pen throwing strikes and getting big outs isn't exactly as easy as you're making it sound. I think some starters would make great closers, but I think many others would suck at it.

Getting three outs before you give up three runs isn't all too challenging.

This goes both ways.

The save stat is way too liberal for sure. I'm talking about clean innings. If it was really that easy, they'd just designate whichever starter was due to throw on the side that day as the closer and let him come in, throw 15 pitches and go home.
