The Astroworld/Travis Scott incident

My question is, who do you blame, the rapper who encourages his fans to do this and was slow to react when it occurred, or the security forces that failed to prevent it as it happened.
You can’t do anything with that many people once they are out of control. If he told them to mosh, then he’s in trouble.

I hadnt read all that, then if thats how it goes he should be at least be able to be sued in civil court. As far as the other stuff, i good see some sort of negligence charges for that. It makes more sense to if he encourages it, I had a few buddies who did security for events like that and from their procedures to all of the different branches that are usually on site it was hard for me to wrap my mind around the amount of un ruly things that happened.
Also, while I don't disagree that responsibility lands on the crowd, as well...yes, have more regard for your fellow man and woman; make no mistake, Travis Scott was in charge of the whole shebangabang, including the crowd. He's the man on the mic, and could have gotten that crowd to do whatever he wanted them to do. He gets them to jump from balconies and 20 foot stages into a "raging", absolutely insane crowd (I have been to over 500 shows in my life, festivals, 100,000 people, from rock, country, hip hop, and everything in between...ive seen some crazy crowds, ive been crazy in them; but, I have never seen anything like these new hip hop crowds...total MADNESS!)...however, 5mins in, 20 mins in, 40 mins in...all he had to do was stop the music, say "turn the lights on, everyone take 5 steps back", and 50,000 people would have done it.

At one point in the show, he saw an ambulance in the middle of the crowd, acknowledged it...people were dancing on top of it, red and blue lights on top blazing...instead of holding up, even for a brief moment to maybe let it get to where it was going, do what it needed to do, he said on the mic, and I quote, "ya'll know what ya'll came to do...I wanna make this motherfcuking ground shake", before blasting into another song, as two people lept from the stage into the crowd, and 50,000 were going crazy again.

He kept singing as he looked DIRECTLY at security pulling a kid from the crowd; and if that kid wasn't dead, it was by the wonderful grace of God, because he was as limp and lifeless as I have ever seen.

The medic tent was already overwhelmed by 8:15, 8:30...
The surge started before 9, picked up in intensity whenever a timer started counting down to Scott, and whenever he hit the stage a little after 9, it was TOTAL chaos that didn't end until around 10:15, his last song...a 'mass casualty event' was declared at 9:38...he played his entire set...the surge and crush went on for at least an hour and a half.

What more is there to say...?

Not really, he was famous well before that

Think his first hit was 2015 and peaked at 16.

He met her in 17.

I was honestly being slightly facetious though and don’t really follow the guy as his music isn’t my style.

To me it sounds like if elevator music met rap and had a baby.

Astroworld staff told in event plan to refer to possible dead fans as ‘smurfs’

Astroworld staffers were instructed to refer to potential dead concertgoers as “smurfs,” according to a security and emergency medical response plan — as witnesses described victims as turning “black and blue.”

The 56-page Event Operations Plan, which was obtained by CNN, instructs the personnel at NRG Park in Houston to never use the terms “dead” or “deceased” on the radio.

Travis Scott Repeatedly Bragged about Hurt, Unconscious Concertgoers

Years before eight died at his Astroworld festival, Travis Scott would brag on social media about fans getting hurt and passing out at his shows — even suggesting one would be a “hero” if he “didn’t survive” a New York gig.

The 30-year-old “Sicko Mode” star — under fire for playing on at Friday’s Houston festival as eight died and hundreds were injured — still has disturbing images on his social media celebrating previous scares.

One of the most disturbing posts shows a young man seemingly unconscious at Scott’s sold-out 2015 show at Manhattan’s Webster Hall.

“TO THE KID THAT DIDNT SURVIVE THE RODEO. UR A HERO IN MU BOOK,” Scott captioned the photo that is still on his page.

The image was posted the day after his show with Young Thug at the East Village venue. Just before it, he also posted a video of the crowd reacting to him playing his song “Quintana in NYC.”

Bharti Shahani, a 22-year-old college student from Texas, succumbed to her injuries sustained at last week's festival after being declared brain dead on Tuesday.

Travis, real name Jacques Webster, was spotted on the phone, wrapped in an Hermes blanket and pacing with his back turned to the cameras as it's revealed another victim died Thursday, bringing the death toll from the crowd surge to nine.

Travis has been holed up at the home with 24-hour security and at least five security guards since last Friday's tragedy.

His top-notch legal team headed by high-powered attorney Neal Manne were seen arriving at the mansion

Shahani was a student at Texas A&M, where she had switched her major from chemical engineering to computer science, her father said.

'She was like an angel for us. She was the head of the family. She was very nice to us. Always calm, always listened, and she had a bright future,' her father said. 'Only thing I request from you all is to please, please make sure you request justice. I do not want somebody else's daughter to go like this.'

Travis Scott is being sued by at least 150 victims for 'inciting mayhem' and stands to lose 'billions' after more than 300 people were treated at an emergency field hospital in the aftermath, 11 others went into cardiac arrest and dozens more were knocked unconscious.

Powerhouse Texas attorney Thomas J. Henry said his firm is being contacted by 'more and more' injured people by the hour and 'the damages suffered by [the Astroworld tragedy's] victims could total in the billions.'

Astroworld Fans Blocked, Danced on Emergency Vehicles as Tragedy Unfolded

Video of the Astroworld Festival that surfaced after eight people were killed shows fans blocking and dancing on emergency vehicles, apparently unaware of the tragedy unfolding in the mosh pit near the stage. Footage of the event also shows Travis Scott spotting an ambulance with flashing lights in the crowd, making mention of it from the stage, pausing for a few moments—and then sending two members of his entourage diving off the stage to crowd surf. “What the **** is that. There’s an ambulance...whoa whoa,” he could be heard saying.

Apparently grief opportunist, Ben Crump, is on the scene now like tree services after a category 3 hurricane.

I can't understand why all of those people attend concerts of people who can not sing.

Have you been to a UT game when they've done 3rd down for what? That's the reason. The bigger question is allowing your young kids to attend a music pornography event saturated with illegal drugs. We wonder why there is no respect for women. They generally start by not respecting themselves with the language that is used in these songs. It's gotten bad for the youth in this country because this stuff has made these folks legends.

Travis Scott’s Astroworld tragedy: Funeral held for 16-year-old Victim of deadly crowd surge

Brianna Rodriguez was among the nine people who died in the Astroworld crowd surge

The funeral for Brianna Rodriguez, a 16-year-old who was among victims of Travis Scott's deadly Astroworld Festival tragedy, was held over the weekend, giving friends and family their first chance to publicly mourn her loss.

More than 250 of her loved ones and friends gathered Saturday to honor her and remember her for her friendliness and love of dance, the Houston Chronicle reported. Her white casket was surrounded by flowers and balloons in pink and white — her favorite colors.

"Every time she walked into a room, she would light up the room," said her friend, Ariah Herrera, 16, as she cried. "She cared for everybody. She was a friend to everybody."

Funny isn’t it….no one in history has ever been trampled at a Country or Bluegrass concert. Maybe folks need to change their musical tastes. (Polka and Classical remain amazingly fatality free as well)

Travis Scott asks judge to toss one Astroworld civil lawsuit as dozens pile up, suing him for BILLIONS: Rapper claims he is NOT responsible for chaos that left ten dead and injured hundreds

  • Travis Scott asked a judge to dismiss a civil suit brought against him after 10 people died and hundreds were injured during his Astroworld performance
  • One case alone, which represents 282 victims, is suing the star for $2 billion
  • Until Monday, it was unknown if Scott would take responsibility for the tragedy, but the motion for dismissal makes it apparent he is denying all liability
Travis Scott has asked a judge to dismiss at least one civil lawsuit brought against him after 10 people were killed and hundreds injured at his chaotic Astroworld concert last month.

The Sicko Mode rapper filed legal documents Monday requesting that a suit from festival attendee Jessie Garcia filed against him and several of his businesses be dismissed with prejudice.

Scott issued a 'general denial' to all the allegations in Garcia's suit, TMZ reported.

This is a cute troll job. Did he encourage them to peacefully protest near the Capitol building

When do we start blaming the fans dumb enough to be herded into a stampede?
