Thanks alot Phil and Erik

once again still not better outside the state. Carroll has a huge amount of talent in cali
you are lost. the majority of their skill position types are out of staters.

forget him. How about Stoops? Meyer? Spurrier? 90s Nebraska (which Pelini and Osborne should fix). Rodriguez? Michigan? Penn State? Alabama? Georgia?

Maybe in your mind, there wasn't a National Championship game like there is now. Go tell Carroll he doesn't have but 1 National Championship and I'm sure if Tennessee won one that way you would be more than proud to claim it, I would.

and u go tell a LSU fan that they split it.

your gonna mention one guy.. name me 4 starters from TN.

My point was that Carroll got a top player from our backyard and put him in a USC jersey. It was my example of 'top' talent outside of California that went to USC after you said Fulmer was the best at recruiting out of state. What does naming 4 starters from Tennessee have to do with anything related to our discussion. Do you want 4 starters on the Vols or other teams?

Umm no.. The BCS went to LSU. since 98 thats all thats counted.

Use whatever math you want. The sportwriters in the AP voted USC as their #1 team after the 2003 bowl season. Therefore, USC was the AP's 2003 NC.

thanks Ainge gave away a game that was ours all you had to do was not lose it and you couldnt even do that
should have started G Jones

I've read all the posts on this thread and haven't heard anyone give LSU credit for making the plays when they had to....Defense still wins championships!!!
I know Eric Ainge gave 2 gifts to LSU and probably played his worst game as a Vol. Lincoln missing 2 field goals were equally as disappointing. Giving up the fake punt and dropped passes...... and we still had opportunities to win the game.
If we had made the plays on LSU on defense, as they did, we would be talking about how our defense won the game.....just as LSU fans are now.....

 Our defense gave up 14 points, recovered a fumble, and got an interception. I mean, what more would you have them do?

maybe its just me but i thought it was decent coaching job tody. Eric choked thats why we lost. this is in no way phil's fault. blameing phil for today's loss makes as much since as sayin it was smokey's fault we lost.

I cant fault Phil for coaching today. I thought a good game was called especially on D, but at the end of the day it will always fall on the Head Coach.

Was it just me or was Foster dancing around like he used to instead of hitting the hole like he had been doing?
But yeah Ainge blew it, our D was knocking out players left and right.

foster looked like an all american on the first drive...then for some reason cutcliffe goes away from him the rest of the game except for a dive for 1-2 yards here and there

There is a lot of talk on here about "when" and "why" TN became relevent in the hunt for the SEC/NC. Was it when Fulmer took over? Was it because of Cutcliffe's offense? Was it because of Chavis's (past is seems) defenses? Or was is Fulmer's ability to recruit outside of the state? Are we all forgetting what is probably the main reason all of those things happened?........PEYTON MANNING. Peyton came early in Fulmer's career and that clearly led to his ability to achieve early success. Recruiting sure wasn't a problem after his freshman year for receivers....."Oh, by the way, we have a guy named Manning that will be throwing the ball to you." I grew up in TN and have, by the grace of God made it back here, and have been a life long fan of UT football. But there's no one out there that can honestly say that his prescence at UT didn't take us to the next level. A really awesome 'Husker team and dropped passes by receivers are the only thing that kept him from having a NC in '97. We all know he got robbed of the heisman. Does anyone take that trophy seriosly anymore since '97? Coaching changes might solve our problem, but probably not. But to argue about Fulmer's ablility to take this program to the ultimate level is pointless. It was Peyton, and what he brought to the program. Made it EASY to recruit.....IN ANY STATE. Made an OC's job EASY....let your ace air it out. Make's the defense's job easier. Parity is the new "problem" for teams, but the teams with REAL playmakers still win. And REAL playmakers bring in more playmakers.

Peyton wasnt here when we had Tim Mcgee or Willie Gault nor Alvin Harper Or Karl Pickens and so on. We were WR U way b4 the Peyton Days and we have a good group now. We just dont seem to stretch the field with what we have. Maybe with the strength of Cromptons arm that will again happen, but I am tired of saying "wait til next year" we need an ass-kickin in your face guy to come in here and make players accountable, and CPF has gotten lax on accountability, therefore making no one accountable for the program.

HOW MANY TEAMS IN AMERICA CAN SAY THEY HAVE A PROGRAM LIKE US?? Maybe 10, MAYBE!!! This is the SEC. Yes, the lost to Cal was bad, but it was against a young team. We are still there. We are not Mediocre. Just because the poles have us at 14 doesnt mean were 14th. I can pick out about 5 teams that we can beat head to head that are above us. And in case you forgot we beat that team thats #4!!!!!

OK, Time to get off the this is the SEC kick. Who gives a rat's a$$ if it's the SEC Big 10 Pac10 or so on. It is time to step it up and do it now, or while we are using the excuse this is the SEC the the other programs and conferences will wave to us as they pass us by.

Phil is a good coach. He does not drop the passes. He does not throw the pathetic INTs.

Next year could be rough as well, with a new QB

The one bright spot is I only have to watch the ole king of the dink one more game. I predict our recievers will get seperation next year and it will be due to our qb letting routes develop and not dinking the ball anytime a defender gets near him or 2 seconds go by. Bye bye Erik, don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!!!!!!:clapping:

Here's to you Mr. Throw 3 yards when we need 6 guy (He can't seem to measure).....with your keen knowledge of down and distance you Mr. Throw 3 yards when we need 6 guy rack up the three and outs (bring on the punter)......oh you Mr. Throw 3 yards when we need 6 guy rack up 14,000 completions for 93 yards per game (he's a record setter) pour yourself a cold bud light because you probably brought a 6 pack for your party (sob can't count either).....so here's to you Mr. Throw 3 yards when you need 6 guy......dink away.....
