Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

I'm guessing you missed it on the other thread. He's staying put.
Yea read this one first and then saw that, that’s great news...I might be overreacting but with the limitations and cancellations of things with this virus I think continuity is going to be very important as is recruiting ahead. There’s a decent chance if you think about it that many of the current 2021 kids have taken their last OV’s prior to fall signing period. Or at the very least could miss their last AAU season or a good chunk of it...so I think in a simple sense recruitments are way further ahead for 2021 kids and even 2022 than they normally would be at this stage.

Yep under the current situation continuity is important

Not sure why he deserves a raise but I guess this was a way to maybe get one
He may not get one, bit of an assumption on my part...he’s the lowest paid assistant (understandably so) and Barnes really likes the work he has done on the recruiting trail, he’s also a name likely to be pursued by both small schools for HC and bigger schools for possible top assistant jobs.

isnt our assistant pool of money now elite?

Meaning our lowest is still very well paid comparably speaking ?

All 3 are pretty comparably paid...Schwartz $340k, $325k and English $310k for a total pool of $975k. Not sure where that ranks nationally, quick search would rank it 3rd in the Big Ten. Kentucky appears to be about $1.6m...not gonna go through every school but I would guess Tennessee ranks 10-15 nationally.

Example being...if Missouri was to not renew Michael Porter Sr. they would have a vacancy and about $400k to throw at someone like Kim English if they chose to.

Thx
good info

Betting Barnes is in the minority with keeping the assists so close

Different sport but same athletic department, didn't football just give Weinke a $100,000 raise and did you see the QB play last season? I know it's a different sport but you said "deserves a raise" and I thought of him.

But the overall outcome of football was “good” last year while talking steps forward. Basketball declined in success

A non-grad transfer, little off the radar name I could get behind, would be Joshua Morgan 6’11” 195lbs. Just finished freshman year at Long Beach, averaged 8.4ppg 6.1rpg 2.5bpg 62%fg and was named Big West DPOY.

I’d guess all transfers get immediately eligible this year

Basilio is spitballing Marfo today:

"When basketball business opens once again we've already told you here that the Vols are going to have an opening by a departure. Tennessee absolutely needs to add a rebounder to next year's front line if they're going to get to where they want to be. If you look at UT's roster they don't have a stock in trade rebounder. Fulkerson is not a rebounder and neither is Pons. Meanwhile UT doesn't have time to play with Plavsic developing into a rebounder if they're going to take advantage of next years's window. Therefore the Vols are going for it. Another big guy who fits what Tennessee is looking for is Kevin Marfo a 6'8, 245 pound forward out of Quinnipiac. Marfo (awesome name) led all of college basketball in rebounding this season with 13 per game and has entered the portal and will be eligible immediately. Tennessee had not contacted him though as of Wednesday. Marfo is drawing significant interest from Florida, Memphis, Arkansas, Bama and others. Looking at Marfo's list, it isn't far fetched to think Tennessee could get in this immediately with him."
