Tennessee Vols Basketball Recruiting

How would that lineup work? I'm sure he wouldn't come here to sit.

ZZ, Santi, Mosely, JJJ, Phillips/ORN?

I suspect if we landed any of the experienced/top flight point guards that they'd be given every opportunity to start and ZZ would have a similar role to the one he had last year. Mosley mentioned 9 schools to Rivals earlier this month and Florida and Miss State were the only ones from the SEC. Don't know of Kansas has room or plans on making room. This could be a big factor in why Hunter picked Texas, Kansas may have had him on the back burner while waiting on Mosley. Duke also contacted him.

Hell if Duke gets him, then go all in on AJ Green lol

Maybe I’m missing it, but what I’m Earth has y’all thinking ZZ won’t start?

Dude is Rick Barnes values thru and Thru
hard work. Conditioning. Gets where he wants whenever he wants. Ds up anyone and everyone. Entire team plays with more energy when he’s on the court.
Because we were really good with him coming off the bench last season

Is it cocky to say if Ramey opts out of the draft and we call, it's pretty much a sure lock? (If Wilson goes back to Kansas)

ZZ averaged over 22 minutes per game last season. He’s already more than a role player. This is simply ridiculous.
I’m pretty high on zz, but when I think “role player”, 20ish minutes off the bench is almost exactly what I think. Grant has averaged 19.4 minutes per game for his NBA career 24.4 this season) and is a role player for that Celtics team.

Role player is not an insult. It does indicate he has a niche application to their game. He is deployed in a specific time and manner, and that falls below their primary gameplan.

ZZ will never be more than a role player. A good one, though.

What a stupid statement lol. Kid averaged 10.1 points per game in SEC play. Should've been in high school last season. ZZ will be big time for Barnes

Noticed that his username is GrayWater and not Grey Matter..... the general reaction to this post pretty much validates the wisdom with his selection. Gadflies may in fact hang around gray water.... who wants to be a identified as dog in a cesspool anyway? Freudian slip from a real GA fan maybe.

Sort of bet that at his size Coach may have him work on his handle and vision just a tad.

I mean that is a role player. You can start and still be a role player.
Given that logic, who is not a role player? ZZ played the back up point. He has a well rounded skill set. He’s not a pass only PG, or defensive specialist alone. He’s a typical starting PG. He’s the leading candidate to be the starting point. His role-playing last year was playing in a two guard set with Chandler, in a set up that was typically two top, but with some off ball sets. If BJ can handle the ball, we may see that again as it opened up the three and the off ball drive for ZZ. It’s hard to make the argument for anyone but ZZ starting as the PG, unless we bring someone in. That is not, by definition, a role player.

Yeah, I don’t know how you can say he’s a role player at best based on that freshman year where he exploded onto the scene and was like our 6th man without a full summer of training, etc.
