Tennessee Softball 2025

Didn’t get to watch live. Nice comeback though we really made it hard on ourselves.' Been facing better pitchers. We have to hit better tomorrow since you figure Karlyn won’t start. Maybe we will adjust. Any Sec win is a good one though. On to tomorrow.

Does Auburn have any better pitching? Not impressed even though they held us down so long.

Does Pickens take the mound again tonight or does the Freshman take the bump?
Since she pitched 7 yesterday, I'd assume KP will be rested today. Yes, all of the games are important from here on out, and we'll always have better chances of winning any time our ace is on the mound, but we shouldn't ride her to death. That never turns out well.

Although if we have a close lead going into the 5th or 6th I would expect to see her close it out.

Deepest staff was Rogers, Payton and Pickens…everyone else.

Karen is being nice saying this may be the deepest.
I as a fan I want Pickens to throw every inning but with the portal and keeping a talented pitching staff you got to get all pitchers innings and it’s a long season and if managed right you can but I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t lose 2-4 pitchers next year to the portal. We got the Montana Fouts vibe going on here where it’s just her team and they had a mass exiting. Pitcher parents want to see there kid pitch and outside of Pickens it’s not happening. It’s a double edge sword because if you want Pickens to win awards she’s got to be on the mound but if you want to have a deep staff you got to pitch the staff against the teams Pickens is out there to only rack up stats.

Inning count for the season:
Pickens: 134
Sage: 65 (she had 120 last year for South Carolina as a freshman)
Erin: 49
Payton: 22
Charli: 6

Throw the potential 5 year in and you have overall bad roster management/evaluations by the staff since 2021 class.

* no guarantees Pickens would play here for a 5th if she has the chance.

This roster will look different next season as a whole regardless, you have 2 pitchers coming in that are on par with Nuwer coming in. Sage does she stay around and be #2-4 heading into her Jr year? Does Tanner head home and Charli, I believe graduates early (not 100%, but believe that’s the case). Those I've spoke with said Karen wants a 5 pitcher staff as the 2023 year with 6 was too many.
