Tennessee Softball 2025

I had suggested in a earlier post about that shift and agree she will see that a lot more going forward. Was wondering if Morgan could start going to the right side more with bunts etc but not that familiar with the mechanics of the slappers. Seems Morgan, being a lefty always goes to same side of the infield which the reason TX used the shift knowing that. Can a slapper go to the other side?
Texas just copied from OU.

The hitters that kept us from breaking that game open yesterday into a rout was the five spot Mealer and six Gabby Leach. They came up twice and key situations and failed to make enough contact. I think Mealer struck out both times.
Yeah love her but Mealer had a poor weekend at the plate and not the best in the field.

Slappers typically go middle/left. A drag bunt or drop bunt depending on where the 1B is, would be best case. If she could high chop it doesn’t matter where they shift, she would be to the bag before they could throw.

Thanks Majors. I just didn't understand how the slap hitting worked. Didn't have that back in my days of SB. Edit - it was around some but not at the level I was involved with, 12-unders.

This time of year, everyone’s scouting reports are pretty well flushed out so everyone will get played against their weaknesses.
They had a great heat chart on Rally Cap last night that showed Bri Ellis’ weak spot was down and in, and suggested she leaned into the plate to take that away. Pitch her down and in… much better to hit her than allow her to launch! 🚀

Watched AL-OU game last night. AL has a slapper that bats from the left and went to the right side of the infield on every at bat. She was also very fast and can just chop down on the ball and beat it out. Backs up your high chop comment but also hit a hard shot in the hole between 1st-2nd and beat it out. Speed kills.

I just thought it was interesting to see a lefty slapper not always go to the left side which was the question I was asking about, it can be done effectively.

White is the best in college softball. Can it be done, yes which was the typically part. She’s also in year 3. I’m sure as the years come for Morgan and she adapts to the speed of college pitches it’ll be incorporated.

A&M looks like the favorite to win the SEC regular season Just three losses they have Missouri and Arkansas at home before they come to play us in Knoxville. If we could win the next five of six versus Auburn and Ole Miss while they lose a couple games in their series with Missouri and Arknsas would be 5 losses to our 7 losses. We would need to win all three game to get past them.

Meanwhile five loss Oklahoma and 4 loss Texas have to play each other and Texas also has Florida. We would need both of them to get to seven losses and would hold the tiebreaker over both of them. Now if we win our next six really going to get interesting. That is a tall task, but we could do it.

Anything is possible so there is a chance but it's not likely at all. The conference is just too strong.
Those series wins against OU and Texas have me feeling a little extra. I keep thinking maybe this is the year for the stars to align for the Lady Vols. Tennessee is beating really good teams and is gaining momentum. It just seems to me that KP has found a higher gear and we're stringing together some hits against good pitching soooooooo...

I have a good feeling. 🤗
