Tennessee Lady Vol News

Great young lady......

Kim
I’ll also mention a foot injury is what forced Candace into retirement.

Obviously Edie is much, much younger, but all that say I don’t think she was pushed out.

I'd bet the farm on my belief that Kim would not have pushed Edie Darby out.

I imagine Edie's pre-med studies are about to become all she can handle even when she's not devoting so many hours to basketball every week, and so it really is probably a good time to move on. I'm thrilled she's staying at Tennessee and will graduate as a Lady Vol For Life. 🧡

One thing for certain: She will be the kind of doctor anyone will be lucky to have.

No gave a wonderful goodbye message she is now and always LVFL.

I think we're at a roster of 13, so 2 scholarships available.

I guess we are getting two more players ! Anyone think we won’t use all the scholarships now ? My bet is two more coming….

Darby was paying her own way for three years ! Maybe she could get some financial help from someone this year ? Just my thoughts 🤔

So much happening today!

But that announcement brought me to tears--though I've never even met the young lady or seen her play in person. Every impression I have of her has come from things CKC has said about her since arriving, and they were all golden.

Maybe I'm mourning what she won't know. Blessed health-wise to play the game regularly into my 50s (and +15 years later still missing it) it is such a wonderful game to grow older with! Your mind and experience can continue to improve your game, long after the physical declines are in freefall. I guess it's a game that gives hope.

But after those emotions subsided, I felt cheered by the thought that Edie is going to become a doctor! What a life of blessing to commit to! My late wife and I "adopted" a med school study group a lifetime ago. So many weddings, births, grandchildren, and funerals later, I'm still being blessed by those now mature doctors and their families. They each have become such contributors to their communities. If Edie gets to have a life like theirs... she's done well!

It's not hard to envision this young lady Vol earning the UT Med School version of our familiar acronym of honor, being a Vol For Lives.

"The total cost of four years of M.D. degree program at UT College of Medicine is $289,752 for Tennessee residents..."

I think her future budget is gonna be stretched enough...

As an aside, the Google AI Overview replied with data regarding a medical degree from University of Texas!
Fifty years later, and GI-GO still rules in the computer domain.

I thought they wanted less government in our lives. Absolute sarcasm intended.

I said what I said...
We're in a weird time when public interests are pushing representative branches to take back powers they ceded to bureaucratic entities. A necessary correction, but none of the actors are trusted by even 50% of the public.

Instead of "less government" it would've been more accurate to call for "more accountable" government. But that phrase is too easily interpreted either way.

Who knows if we're actually improving anything? But I guess we are making progress against having
"The FDA, sponsored by Frito-Lay & General Mills." Stay tuned...

Great post Bruised! So glad your “adopted” gang has been on ongoing part of your life!
Doctors sometimes get a bad rap but most I’ve known are just super folks! Edie will fit right in!
