Tennessee Lady Vol News

As for the SMU hirings, I have to wonder if the ever-sweet Kamiko Williams was hired to be the Good Cop to Adia's Bad.

Kamiko was always fun and funny -- a little "too casual" in Pat's words -- but was a solid player. She's smart, and apparently well liked wherever she goes.

I kinda worry about her working under Adia Barnes, though, who seems like a total nutbag. 😥

A look ahead to the 2026 WNBA Mock Draft and an interesting name popped up. Cooper has more eligibility but looks like she can go after next season…

11. Talaysia Cooper* | 6-0 guard | Tennessee

There is not a lot to go off when assessing Cooper, who essentially has played only one full season as a rotation player in limited minutes because of coach Kim Caldwell’s substitution-heavy system. What Cooper has put on tape is still impressive. She has a great burst off the dribble and finishes at a high clip at the rim. Her steal numbers are inflated by the Lady Vols’ style of play, but she also blocks shots at a high rate. Her jumper needs work, and she gets tunnel vision on isolations instead of looking to pass. However, Cooper’s physical tools and the individual shot creation make her an exciting prospect.

I would be shocked if Betts doesn’t go #1 in that class. No W team so going to pass up 6’7” who can run the floor and score both directions.

So how do you plan your pre-conference basketball schedule, when you have more highly skilled players, but so many of them new to the system?

Last season we saw how many games it took--mostly against non-challenging opponents--for the players to start to execute the system well.

This summer, we'll have a core of players who can be communicating, teaching, and setting the bar in practices and workouts, while the new players are being acclimated to the demands of play and assimilated into the team & culture.

Who are some teams you'd like to see appear on our pre-conference schedule, to prepare us for conference play and the post-season?

I'll hang up and take a nap.

i don’t think we forced her out.

Wouldn’t be so certain. It was being reported this morning that we were trying to get a couple kids to leave to make room for someone.

But she does say she is medically retiring. I didn’t know she had injury history. I love Edie and hope she’s my doctor some day.

She got injuried right before the start of last season. She was out indefinitely with a foot injury.

Lady Vols walk-on guard Edie Darby out with left foot injury for 'extended period of time'
