Tennessee Lady Vol News

Just unbelievable, yet so believable. Still no rules at all. So now players have unrestricted free agency TWICE a yr, bc market value changes w every portal. And the already over involved parents of these players are on triple dose steroids with all the money involved. So Nicos Dad curses and belittles the original writer and denies it all. Then Nico misses the last practice of Spring Drills today. Which all the TN beat writers say is absolutely a hold out, and one designed for max pressure since he waited until he took nearly every snap this spring. No prep for life without him.

It was unfair the players got nothing for so long and this is just capitalism personified. Get it while you can. But my God, this can't be sustainable.

Also, aren't there still starving sick children in the world? Our priorities man.

The NCAA could have addressed this by paying athletes by the hour for practice, travel and games. All students/athletes get the same per hour wage like $25/hr, $100/hour whatever.
That way kids who don’t have time for a part time job could still have spending money. But no, the NCAA was stupid and/or greedy. It got in the courts and here we are. This just infuriates me. I surely believe student athletes deserve some of the money generated from athletics but seeing 19 year old football players driving Ferraris is just actually gross.
I’m a red blooded capitalist but we have lost our way on many roads.

You couldn't have said it any better. The NCAA is the one to blame. Every team in every sport are facing the same thing. They tried to strong arm all schools and athletes now they have lost all control. Even the university can't reign it in .

Agree with both you and GLV98 on this. People keep on excusing all of this saying it is "just business". What successful businesses have around the clock employees holding their work hostage to get raises with no rules at all. In most places you would be fired. I am relatively productive at work but if I feel that pay is unfair that can be brought up at my annual evaluation. No problem. I am all for paying players, but they totally need rules of engagement. Since it is a business, have a period of recruitment where the initial agreement is made and then agree to re-evaluate it in a year after the season is played out one time for a brief period. Then perhaps have a transfer portal open only for players that didn't reach that agreement, and that mean they are no longer on the team. No make blackmailing and over-long negotiations.

I'd be looking for another QB a senior for this season so the two young guys want be threatened. I don't think either is quite ready for the SEC. Nico goodbye is the way I would play it just holding everyone hostage is not something that is admirable.
Its already been stated that a QB from another conference agent or handler( wink, wink) has contacted Tennessee....there will be a QB added when Spring Portal opens up...

She's now in the portal as DNC. Hopefully she reached out to Gabe!

While I think she would fit our system great if we already had enough good 3-point shooters, we have so many players who are really athletic that are mediocre at best at three-point shooting. Given coach wants to raise our PPG, we really need some more 3-point specialists to do so. She just shot at a 30% last year. Given we lost all our games except one by 8 points or less, just being a bit more efficient with our three-point shooting would really help.

100% a thousand times. Also need post help. These should be the needs they address in the portal.

Sometimes I wonder if CKC meant what she said about throwing 5 six foot guards out there. That would be an interesting experiment.

Iamaleava out at Tennessee liking Heupel even more today for not becoming a hostage to a guy who already had a 4 year 8 million dollar deal. Have to say the greed was enormous in this situation. Not a leader glad he is gone.

I think we will be better without him. I’d have been MORE upset if they catered to his demands after his performance last season. You don’t suck it up at work and then go ask for a 100% raise lmao. Get real.

Truth is, Nico I has been a good, but far from great, college player. Maybe at his next stop he'll be better, but so far he hasn't yet been consistently good enough to command millions of dollars. It's obscene that he's been paid so much already.

I wish him well, but hopefully our next QB will be more dedicated to Tennessee football.
