Tennessee has put college football on notice

Lol. Only at Tennessee is a 22 point beatdown interpreted as putting the football world on notice.
So you see nothing encouraging that we were in the game for 3 qtrs but continue to ridicule the team and program as if we had lost to Georgia State again. Are you really a Vol fan or someone who enjoys killing any optimism other fans have? Would it not be better to remain silent and allow other fans to have some hope? Do you enjoy trying to make people unhappy all the time ?

It’s the extreme. Yes, there is reason for optimism and I don’t think most want to kill that.

But, to go say that “college football has been put on notice”, like teams throughout the country (not just the south) are having emergency meetings to figure out just what the hell they are going to do about the new Tennessee problem that’s a-comin is a bridge too far for most.

It’s fandom and all there is are extremes, either we’re the worst team ever or we’re about to be the next college football dynasty with no room in the middle.

Right now, they are 2-5 with a chance to build momentum and have something truly be positive about by winning games or having no one remember a hard fought game against Alabama because you don’t get it done in this stretch of 5 remaining.

CJP had them believing they could compete for sure. Hard to take anything away from a loss, but sat night was his best job coaching I've seen thus far.

If Tua doesn't come back, (I don't think he should) then LSU wins and a few other teams can win as well against buba. I think we bent the boys of steal.

Still got some work to do on the OL.....and DL. Plus I'd like to see the secondary live up to their billing. As others have said, we're still in need of consistent......good....QB play. We are coming around based on the last few weeks......just need to continue that. Getting there, but no, we've not arrived.

Yes.. They notice that we desperately need a QB. This team would be in a much different spot with a competent QB.. Going to be a struggle the rest of the year.

Proud of the Vols, but I'm beginning to think this Bama team is a paper tiger.
Every team now is going to try to put Tua out of the game. Tua and the WRs are all they have, w/o Tua, the WRs are neutered. Bama is very average without him. If he doesn’t play, they have 2-3 losses coming, LSU by 40. But, Bama fans got what they wanted, uptempo passing O, now they have no defense or running game. You can’t flip a switch and become a run/defense winning style overnight. Unless Bryce Young is the next Tua, they are in trouble next year.

It seems more like Saban had "mercy" and let us "win" against the spread for the first time in 12 years by pulling his QB with a fake injury and not running up the score again. The team's miles from good and this sentiment seems almost Orwellian in regard to the team's record this season.

Should we also be on notice by Illinois? Should we be peaking slowly around each corner to make sure the Fighting Illini aren’t coming after us, wearing black clothing, carrying a pickaxe with a really menacing look on their faces.

I mean, they actually won.

You put the Bama game next year in the auto loss column after you watched last night? Tua is gone, its at home, and we'll have our whole team back. You are special.
I think we only have toss-ups, no guaranteed losses as long as we play next year just like this past Saturday night.

Pretty much everyone is encouraged by the improvement in this team. Yeah, we lost by 22 but the refs account for about a 14 point swing in the game. Bammer didn't take their foot off the gas, this was all they had and we held up pretty well. However, I would pump the brakes a little bit on "putting the country on notice." There's a good bit of football yet to be played and we have serious QB issues. I feel pretty good about our running game and our defense is starting to come together. At least the rest of the season will be interesting to see.

How many games can we win the rest of the season- 2 or 3? Is UAB tougher than some think? They are 6-1 but may not have played anyone. Can we beat Kentucky and Vandy? South Carolina and Missouri will be tough!

With Maurer all those games are very winnable. Without Maurer?

Maurer makes the team 14 points better why the coaches didn't realize this before the season started is why we have two more losses than we would've had.

Lets not forget that Butch had Florida beat at Florida up until the last minute. Lets not forget that Butch had Alabama beat at Alabama up until the last minute. I am trying to figure out why this particular game is being reacted to so much differently by all the people on this board. Somebody, please explain to me what the difference is.
It hasn't really sunk in yet that it is just another loss to Alabama

They can take a page out of Nick's playbook and have a nobody linebacker punch him in the ankle after the play is clearly over. It will be easier to do after Bama loses a game, because the SEC will shift gears into protecting LSU.

UAB hasnt played anybody. Their toughest game was probably the one they lost to WKU. I think they are running heavy but can air it out some times. If UT plays like they played Saturday minus JG, then it should be a win

It wasn't that long ago, on this very board, some real experts were stating-emphatically-Florida wasn't a top ten team, and by this time in this season, they wouldn't even be top 20! I checked 5 minutes ago, they're up to #7. I guess some of the experts don't always get it right-Florida is still in the top ten, BAMA is still number one, but now that we've put all of college football on notice with our loss to BAMA-those things will change next season for sure. I'd expect FLORIDA to out of the top 25, BAMA will also fall close to the bottom, our recruits will make such a huge difference (and fast) we should be in the top 25 within the first week or two of the season. We're just one good QB away from a NATY.

CBS130 has UT ranked #92 this morning. After our win over SC how far should we move up that ranking list?
