Tennessee 24-7

By March 9th....they have looked bad @ home for the most part and looked worse the last 2 or three games at home.
Teams have been gunning for the Vols but the teams Tennessee is getting ready to play have much much better Athletes and records.
Tennessee will not be able to turn it on and off against the teams beginning next Saturday.
Tennessee's weaknesses are not just on the boards.
Tennessee is out of position many times on the D when they pressure the opposing teams PG's to keep them beyond the Arc and Tennessee may have to resort to a 2-3 zone.
You come out cold against KY, LSU, Miss St., Ole Miss, Auburn the game may be over by half time.
Tennessee being #1 in the nation gives the above mentioned teams, who are very good teams already, even more energy and especially at home.
The teams we are about to start playing have the ability to run the score up on the Vols and go over them.
Tennessee better get more than rebounding fixed.
Teams we should have upped our game against and never looked back becomes close games so we think we can just turn on the burners and win.
Tennessee is going to need to have Bowden, Turner, Bone and the Admiral on fire in order not to be 24-7 by Tourney time
With our play lately it amazes me we only have 1 loss and its great for the school and fans buttttttttttttttttttttt..............................
Get ready for our 2nd loss and more following that and then we will see where we really belong by seasons end. Wake up time !

So we've had what 1 game since the loss that we have not won by double figures?

GTFO glass half empty!

Even if we are 5th best in that group it doesn’t mean we are going 2-6, you think Michigan or Kentucky is gonna go 2-6 against our final 8?

Your alright BTO. I know you pretty well know your stuff and do a good service by your after the game report.
To your question. I was just saying what I thought going forward for the Vols in the SEC play. You know from the beginning I have thought we would lose several games this season. I thought Alabama would be one of those. I see teams that will exploit our weaknesses and we have 3 or 4. You also know that when people were complaining about the refs when we played the Cards, Zags and Kansas that I thought it was called pretty fair but that they should just wait until SEC play. That the SEC refs were some of the worst IMO. Have I complained any about the refs ? How many of these posters do you hear every game blame the refs. Every game win or lose.
That is worse than my honesty in what I see whether I am wrong or right. Everyone has a right to tell me they believe I am wrong or to call me out.

But you, you know today we are ranked #1 before the new poll comes out but you know you would not place us there at this time would you. Tennessee better get it in gear or they may be 24-7 by March 9 if they keep playing this way. Actually I don't like their play at all lately. A win is a win but I don't like bad habits. Example, Barnes tearing into his players when they come to the bench or who knows what is said in the locker room. Probably saying the same thing I am in private with them.

So if anyone wants to post all my criticism's fire away. But again, make sure you post where I was encouraging them and not bashing them or the refs as others have done.

For the record the concerns I expressed in my earlier post were in no way intended to short sell this team. I believe they are good enough to win it all, I truly do, and it's possible that pouring it on when they need to will get them far, but go and listen to Grant's post game ESPN interview..he's expressing the same thing. That the team is doing a lot right but that they have to improve in a number of ways. Is Grant being glass-half-full, or is he resisting complacency and challenging himself and his teammates to become even better? Blind optimism can be just as dangerous as defeatism. This team is excellent. Their stats and ranking bear that out, but what's wrong with pointing our ways to get better? I doubt CRB is telling them in practice and in huddle that they've reached the pinnacle of their performance. He's sometimes saying a lot worse than any concerns expressed here I'd imagine. That's what a coach does, and that's how teams get better and win championships.

I think that Barnes would be using different lineups if the objective was to destroy each of these opponents. IMO Fulkerson, Johnson, and Turner as the PG would see far fewer minutes if they weren't being prepared for contingencies down the stretch run. If the objective were to win every game as convincingly as possible the 1st 6 would get almost every minute of PT while the 4 sophomores would play as little as possible. Last year in the NCAAT it sure would have helped if Fulk and Walker would have had more playing time before bring forced to fill in for KA versus Loyola-Chicago.

Since you said that. Did you hear the announcers today talking about Barnes not going to the bench and putting all his subs in? They said Barnes thought the opposing coaches would see it as an insult so he leaves his starters in.......yeah, that is what they said. I was kinda stunned.

Oh I find it better not to look through Orange Colored glasses. I'll state my case and right now no one in their right minds would say Tennessee is the #1 team in the nation because of their play. They may because they haven't lost since thanksgiving but not that they are playing like a #1 team in the nation. No, not at all !

No one who is knowledgeable about the game of basketball, or who has watched this season unfold and how teams have played, would say that Tennessee is #5-#10 either. That's why the Committee has them at #2, and the AP and Coaches have them at #1. But that is what you say. I find your lack of faith... disturbing. And if you think Tennessee is the #10 team in the country, you are not showing much depth to your evaluation skills. Name 9 teams who are better. Never mind, it would be a waste of everyone's time to read your list. Goodness, just enjoy the ride!

TN is not perfect. No team right now is playing perfect basketball. But they are the no. 1 team in the nation right now. So your narcissistic opinion doesn't matter. Ok, you're not a troll so grow a set.

"Barnes tearing into his players when they come to the bench or who knows what is said in the locker room."

From what I understand, Barnes is very hard on ALL (Bone , William, Schofield, Bowden, Alexander, Turner, etc.) of his players; and has been consistently for some time, he doesn't want them to be complacent. As Williams said post game, the next opponent is SC and Silva!

Oh, I'm sorry but actually there are some on this board who would tell you the truth if they wanted to and you would just call them ignorant. I see what I see and I stated what I see. I said before the season started that this team would have several losses and by that Alabama game we should know more. This team held out better than I thought they would so far since they beat Alabama which I supposed at the time would go in the loss column. Their #1 legitmacy will depend on their upcoming games but right now I see them as about #5 to #10 team.......

So every commentator and head coach is wrong to say they are one of the top 2-3 teams in the nation?

Right now yes. Lets just see if they are as good as you and them think Tennessee is. Tennessee not going to sleep walk and beat KY, LSU and AUBURN. Nope. Then lets see what the commentators and head coaches say. Hey listen, if they beat KY and LSU I am throwing in the towel.....lol

What if I am wrong and Tennessee really has been playing down to the level of competition so far. hummmmm

One more thing. If Barnes was reading this thread ( and i hope he is ) do you think he would be pointing out those drinking the orange kool-aid and orange glasses or be pointing out my points to the team?

give me your rankings as you see them
Until someone beats Tn they are #1 , They have not played their best ball in the last 4-5 games but they still win and they will have to play better ball on D to keep winning. Can they lose a game ,of course and so can the teams you have in front of Tn. You seem to think those other teams are only going to get better and not have off nights. Even if Tn drops 1 or 2 games that does not in no way mean that Tn is not good or wont make it in the tourney. Did you think Duke was going to hit just about every 3 they shot tonight ? a team that was shooting 29% from the 3 for the year. I have been down on Tn D the last 4-5 games but I know if they can get back to playing D the way they were, then it will be hard for any of those teams to beat Tn. I dont need to give a ranking because Tn is the best team in the country as of right now.
