Summer ball 2025

There was a delay in our game at the Boone Bigfoots last night as an extra player took the field. His ability to defend a large area was respected. Nice touch by the Boone broadcasters to quickly figure out the player and add the graphic.

That’s hilarious that they updated the “player’s” name!

It was such a sudden and unplanned for addition to our lineup they did a great job handling it.

At bat, I imagine his spray chart would cover the infield. He’d also be a terror stealing bases because nobody would tag him out.

Yes, the games are played at App State. Also, it’s generally cooler there, offering a respite from summer heat.

Thankfully, our extra right fielder remained happy and left the field and went back into the woods.
I spent a lot of time on the tennis courts of ASU in my youth. That area was a hot bed of great young tennis players in the summer time because of the mild summer weather.

Will the games be on FloSports now that the regular season is over?
Yes, you can watch all of the games on Flosports. If you don’t subscribe to Flosports, you can listen to our broadcast on Mixlr.com for Saturday’s game.

The home team uses flosports so you can watch the game. But the away team streams audio only. We use mixlr.com for our away games (I don’t remember our AM station, but I couldn’t pick it up anyway). I don’t know what Wilson uses for their away games.

Game 1 of the Coastal Plain League championship at the Wilson Tobs. My kind of ballpark, built in 1939: Ballpark Brothers | Fleming Stadium, Wilson, NC It’s also home of the North Carolina baseball museum.IMG_9925.jpegIMG_9928.jpegIMG_9945.jpegIMG_9929.jpeg
Rode the team bus over. Too old to sit in the back with the players and learn slang in two languages 🙄

We lost both games by a run. We lost the lead last night. It was painful. It was sad seeing two players leave the field crying saying that it was their last baseball game ever. It was nice that we had so many fans stick around in the rain to hug all the players or shake their hands as they came off the field for the last time this season- small town baseball and its fans are great. At least we were one of the last two teams playing on the final day of the season. 😔
