So what was the whole situation with Zane Denton last year? Why did he leave the team?

We attended the opening night game in Johnson City Thursday. I’m not sure if it was because it was the first game, but attendance was extraordinarily high. I didn’t have room to move in the bleachers, which was really irritating my new ACL. I’m loving seeing the new fans and seeing the league succeed, but they’re gonna have to improve concessions. Anyway, there were several Vols represented between JC and Bristol.

Y’all got any of that summer ball, down near Niota?
Your ‘closest’ may be the Sunbelt League, but that’s in Georgia. After that (and it’s not any closer) may be the Greenville Yard Gnomes, or going up to the Tri Cities. Of course you and your family can come as my guest to a Forest City Owls game in Forest City, NC. If I’m there, I’ll get your first beer. Great family atmosphere, small town friendly, post game autographs.

Hayse pitched two innings, two k’s but 4 walks. Arguably, he didn’t have a favorable zone at all. His misses weren’t too far off. Located pitches well, showed some really lively movement on his curve when he threw it. No radar gun, but his fastball seemed to have plenty of zip. Slider was good too, but stuck mostly to fastball/change.

Myatt had 5 AB’s - drew 3 walks. After he put a ride into one that missed going out to left by a foot (but went a mile into the sky and still had the distance), Bristol pitched around him and didn’t give him anything to get into. This early in the season, to see a kid with some plate discipline is impressive. Lots of guys get into this league and immediately start swinging. Said it last night, but to come from metal bats to wood in a weeks time and be able to get good contact and raw power like that is a great sign for our future Vol.

Have we seen a list of everyone's summer assignments yet? Have a friend around the Cape wondered who all was up there. I know Clark, Loy, AA, and maybe a couple others. I feel like Sharman is up there.

Do you think he'll need an adjustment period moving from JUCO to the SEC? I'll admit I haven't seen much of him, but if he's that impressive then I'm ready to be excited about next Spring

Good question and it might be a little early to say. I think most kids are going to need an adjustment period to get ready for SEC play. Will all these positive attributes translate to success at this next level? Way too early to say. However, Myatt had a great year last year and is showing some real promising skills in the summer league. Most of these kids take an adjustment period to get used to wooden bats and every season it seems the first few weeks, if not month, it’s swing away at everything. Not seeing that with Myatt and he’s showing an impressive ability to work counts and wait for his pitch.

Now, I just need to make myself available as an agent for Appy League players….
