I would agree with him more if it was similar to the situation in Denver...they had an elite defense and Peyton rode that as a game manager to a Super Bowl victory...not sure Titans are elite on DAt this point in his career exactly how much better is he than Tannehill? He'd be an upgrade just with his knowledge but for the money I'm just not sure he's worth it. I'm tired of retreading Patriots players, time to develop or find our own through free agency.
Agreed, that's a bad move for both parties. What on earth would he possibly gain by coming to the Titans? It’s not like we’re a 43 y/o QB away from winning the super bowl.
In fact, what on earth would we gain by signing him? He’s likely worse than Tannehill at this point.

Tannehill had a great story this year, but how strongly does anybody actually believe in him? I don't think we can assume he's going to continue to be this effective, especially now that there is more film on him in the Titans system. Teams were running engage 8 and Titans were still running. Imagine what Tom Brady would do to a team that tried to run engage 8 against you?
I think I'd rather have Tom Brady on a 2-year $40M deal than Tannehill on a 5 year $100M+ deal, or whatever he's going to get. Who do you trust more if Derrick Henry gets hurt? Who do you trust more to put together a 2-minute drill? Tom Brady's WR's got no separation this year and he still had 4,000 yards.
A lot to unpack in this post. Tannehill is NOT getting any five year/100M deal. Let's start there. His best-cast scenario is to resign with the Titans, and they are in the cat bird seat. If Brady got a two-year $40 million deal, it would only be if the second year was optional. Wherever Brady ends up, it will be structured to make his '21 and beyond optional.
Also consider this. The economics for massive QB signings is fading. Jimmy G threw eight passes in the NFC championship game. Kirk Cousins is a massive failure. Aaron Rodgers isn't the best Aaron on the Packers. And the Titans make it to the championship game with a retread. Would you rather have a stud DL, stud OL, a RB or a $50 million QB? Kansas City will be one of (not the last but close to it) teams to give a self-harming contract to a QB.
Other than Tannehill playing the best he's ever played for 12 games or so? Quite a bit better. I think you know more of what you're getting with TB than RT (who may regress back to his means). At this point in his career exactly how much better is he than Tannehill? He'd be an upgrade just with his knowledge but for the money I'm just not sure he's worth it. I'm tired of retreading Patriots players, time to develop or find our own through free agency.
Even that situation was completely different. They signed Manning to make the offense elite which he did for 2 2/3 seasons. They started building the defense after losing the SB. Manning was still pretty good until he tore his quad late into his 3rd season. Then he missed most of that 4th season and the defense carried the team to the playoffs where Manning became the game manager for those final games of his career.
But I agree, Titans Defense is not at a place to carry the team. As long as they have Henry and the OL running they are, I think Tannehill is more than efficient enough to throw it as needed.
