Nice attempt at revising history, but Jose wasn't going to be part of the 2010 class even if Kiffin had stayed. He had long since decommitted.
Regarding Hunter:
1. He was an LSU lock. Everyone knew he was going to LSU
2. In November we suddenly started hearing that Hunter may be unsure and Hunter took an official to Tennessee
3. 5 days after Dooley was hired, an LSU lock decommits and commits to Tennessee
I'm sorry, but if you think that, within 5 days, Dooley was able to turn a kid who wasn't interested in Tennessee, you're completely dense. Hunter wanted to come to Tennessee, then the coach left. At that time, Hunter wasn't fully committed to either Tennessee or LSU. Once he talked to the new coach, he was back on board. Had Kiffin not gotten him in the bag, though, there's no chance Dooley would have turned an LSU lock in 5 days.
Guess again. See the 12/9/09 article on TOS about UT's aggressive effort to get him to keep his commitment to Tennessee after Gran departed; he didn't commit to UCF until after Dooley came in.
Here's a few other guys Kiffin told to "go elsewhere" or lost in 2009:
OL Morgan Moses (starting @ Virginia)
OL Peter White (starting @ Maryland)
WR Marlon Brown (starting @ Georgia)
RB Lennon Creer (on RB award lists pre-season)
DB D.J. Swearinger (starting @ South Carolina)
LB Shackleford (starting @ Ole Miss, pre-injury)
DT Langley (starting @ Texas Tech)
I'd prefer any of those over the litter of busts from his 2009 class...
Incorrect. Kiffin had him in Orange, he was just going to be another NSD surprise, just like we Vols like 'em. Dooley needed to get the ball rolling, so when he talked to Hunter and knew that Hunter was still on board, he said to go ahead and go public.
Did Kiffin offer Bray? No, because he was coming here. There was no point.
You cant say Hunter or Rogers is Kiffin's recruits because we have no idea if he would of came or not. That being said, im sure Kiffin's staff recruited both players hard but at the end of the day, its impressive for a coach to be put in the same situation as Dooley and still land those top players. Im more impressed with Dooley switching Hood to dt and him becoming apparently becoming a force and turning Malik Jackson into an all sec player. Would he have been a starter right now if we still had kiffin as coach or would Malik even get a chance to show what he could do?? Thats what impresses me more than anything, both Kiffin and Dooley are really good recruiters. You cant deny either of them that.
