Staff shakeup predictions?

Regarding Weinke, if I'm mistaken it's due to my faulty recollection. But was not the whole premise for bringing Weinke to The Hill was due to his connection and ability to recruit IMG Academy out of FLA? Looking at this year's class, see a stampede out of IMG to sign schollys with us? Sooooooo why is it we need Weinke again as decent RB coaches are a dime a dozen these days???
4-8 and 5-7 years will do that

If true, he gone. My guess is he only took the special teams job because he was dropped by Taggart and didn’t have a landing spot. Plus, he obviously had ties to CJP. Wish him well.
He also worked DB’s. Was always going to be a stopover because he’s not done.

RE: Friend. I wouldn't be disappointed if Friend was replaced. The OL showed no signs of improvement throughout the season. I didn't expect the OL to be good, but I did expect to see SOME improvement over the course of 13 weeks. If anything, they regressed. Bottom line--whether they were or not, they looked poorly coached.

Agreed. I’ll give him a pass since he has a good reputation and our guys were very weak. Hard to be successful if they are getting manhandled.

I'm hoping this entire premise is false. David Johnson is one of the best WR coaches in the nation and also one of our best recruiters.

If we're going to replace someone, it should be Weinke. 247 had him rated as our weakest recruiter.

247 Recruiter Rankings

Another possibility is removing a defensive coach.

Id like to keep Johnson but I don’t see how it works with Tee also being known for developing WRs coaches. And keep in mind Johnson may be one of our best recruiters currently but he doesn’t hold a candle to Tee in those regards.

Johnson was a up and coming coach when hired here from Memphis, I loved seeing him added to staff last year, but he was never going to stay here long.

So assuming it is David Johnson that’s out for Tee, what other staffshake ups do you see? I’ve heard people (Swain mostly) hinting at more staff changes to come. Weinke seems like the weakest link...I wonder if there’s a good recruiter RB coach that played at UT out there hmmmmm. Charles Kelly to Maryland may be something to watch for. Not sure about a replacement if it were to happen.

How about we make Weinke a non-coaching position, so he can still contribute and recruit IMG for us.?

Then see if Tee wants QBs or WRs? If he stays with WRs then let David Johnson take a growth position and coach QBs. Either way, QB coach will be mentored and assisted by Chaney.

If we lose Kelly, outbid Florida for Charlton Warren or someone better.

Another option is to have Tee in a non-coaching position where he can audit and be mentored/trained for OC position in future (not likely).

They didn't improve enough but they were significantly better than last season. Run blocking was most troublesome and erratic. It would have been nice to have had Kennedy and Smith play the whole season healthy. I would say we went from 14th best to 12 or 13th best in conference at OL. Woooooooooooo!

No doubt. Weinke was a college QB and at his previous stops was a QB coach. Here he was the RB coach, which I think is code for "recruiter for IMG kids" (he was the HC there from 2010-14. We only had one kid (Akporoghene) from IMG sign for 2019, and he wasn't highly rated.

I really like this kid, he could very well be as good as Morris and Wright when it is all said and done. He has a great frame to build off of.

If he had committed to Alabama, then he would be a high 4* within a month of committing.

The only thing that I'm worried about is Johnson being odd man out ending up at turdscaloser coaching for Nicky.

I think Weinke gets replaced
I think Weinke gets replaced

Or a crazy thought....Fair coaches all DB’s and Special Teams can go to Niedermeyer or another coach... then Tee coaches QB and asst. OC. Chaney is listed as OC, but also coaches QB.

Bc really they need extra help on offense, not on defense bc Pruitt coaches DBs and they hv Coach Fair.

It's not that difficult. You put Tee on RBs. Or you put Tee on QBs alongside Chaney if we keep Weinke.

It doesn't make any sense to bring in a big recruiter, but then to cut our 2nd best recruiter (and arguably, best position coach) on staff. Saying Johnson 'doesn't hold a candle to Tee' is quite an exaggeration, as well. Johnson right now is a top 50 recruiter nationally and he might land us another big prospect before all is said and done. Him and Tee are pretty close recruiting-wise. What we want is BOTH of them recruiting.

I think Kelly is gone which would solve our short term overstaffing problem and get Tee out on the road. And with Pruitt being kind of hands on as a DB coach, we won't have to replace him. Tee is surprisingly the QB coach, figured he would have been WR but won't complain about that. Weinke to me is the weak link, he was hired to get us recruits from IMG, and the only one he delivered on was a kid originally from Seymour who basically just came home. He's coaching RB anyways, not really the best utilization of his experience. Would wonder if we might make a swing by Texas A&M and see if Jay Graham might want to come coach our RBs. He has done a decent job out there and would likely not be a threat for lateral movement (wouid not leave for something less than an OC position). Would like to keep Johnson by all means, he has our receivers making huge strides.

I like the idea of Johnson to running back coach

Tee to wide receiver coach, and winkie and Chaney with qb’s

Johnson moving to running back coach, would be a good move with his recruiting area being Louisiana & south Texas area.

Some good running backs down there. And Johnson got visits from a few of them this year as Wide receiver coach. Put him at RB coach and let him go get them and have the pitch to also coach them.

Looks like Kelly turned down the DC spot. Pruitt winning big. He chose to be a position coach over a coordinator.

Kelly staying, at least for now.

Johnson is maybe going to Barn.

“Who truly knows at this point” is probably the most accurate summary.
