Was this not the only excuse Dooley supporters were clinging on to? This place is anything but stable! There are only a couple coaches from his staff left and they all are leaving during a crucial recruiting time? There are also rumors that Chaney is next. Well at least we still have Terry Joseph..........ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! :mf_surrender:

people wanted a RB coach and they got one. People wanted the OL coach replaced and that happened. Still trying to find the negatives in the changes

The negative is you can't go on the recruiting trail and tell kids "Life is good at Tennessee" when all they have to do is look up and see am 11-14 record with Dooley and 5-6 coaches have jumped ship in less than 6 weeks.

I'm trying to figure out how you see those changes as "positive". People might say "well, we improved the staffm, recruiting, etc.........." but it doesn't look that way on the outside. it looks like rats fleeing a ship, even if I don't believe it and that might not be the case.

Your problem here isn't reality, it's perception of the program.

1) it's not jumping ship

2) I personally don't care how you view it. It's not hurting recruiting

no no no this is junk U need to learn to read with comprehension better or maybe your being a self serving selfish person..either way just stop

The reason the vols have had such a problem the last 2 years are Fulmer's last class recruiting class and and Kiffin's first.. we 1/2 done with these two problems

and it we show as our record improves next year and we finally upset one of our rivals

I don't like stability if it comes with mediocrity, but then again I am crazy like that :banghead2:

Well he is saying something right! I agree that perceptions can be tough to overcome, some major wins in 2012 will change that.

Most of the topics you see are the frantic edges of the fanbase who panic with the bad news and think we'll be ready for a championship next year with the good news. To use them as a sweeping generalization of the rest of us is ignorant.

very few have gone overboard on either view. Taking the extremes and creating a false choice is just weak. We made changes (some that the majority of Vol fans wanted), upgraded some coaches and it doesn't appear to have affected us on the recruiting side. Please point out the negatives

The flip side of that is or the program that has played for the most national titles since you were born.......so come here and win us the next one

See how easy that was? You guys really do dismiss the idea of perception amongst recruits.

The last time Tennessee was at the level you guys think they should be every year, the kids you are recruiting now were 8 years old.

So losing an entire coaching staff, save the head coach, is nothing but positive froma perception standpoint? nobody could look at that and say "wow, what's going on at Tennessee?"

How do you know they are upgrades? We thought Charlie Weis was an upgrade. How'd that work for Florida?

The problem with stability is that most look only at the coaching staff to measure it. In fact, it isn't just the coaches, but the entire program staff and, most importantly, the players. Our instability came from the loss of all the Fulmerites, then the dust storm kicked up by Lane. Dooley didn't just have to rebuild the staff, he had to rebuild the program. This year he will have the bulk of his first recruiting class entering their 3rd year in the program, but he also is entering his 3rd year with everyone in the AD, football program, the stadium, transportation etc. They know what he wants, he knows what to expect, consequently, he can focus more on the important stuff, like winning games.

You are probably the same guy who raves about Dave Hart and how he isn't going to put up with mediocrity, etc.... If you don't like the stability of the coaches then you need to look no further than the AD. He is the one who decided not to extend there contracts not Dooley. The funny thing is.....He is having to give three year contracts to get coaches when he could have given one year extensions with flat cost. IMO Hart isn't that great!

again, please point out where it has hurt UT

How do you know they are upgrades? We thought Charlie Weis was an upgrade. How'd that work for Florida?

only UF fans thought Weis and Muschamp would be an upgrade

Good points, but if we can't convince our own of the circumstances surrounding our situation, you're definitely not going to have much success doing so as a Gator fan. Like I said, frantic edges. Not the status quo.

Hey Waco, perception doesn't win a thing. You know what the perception of the Gators is?

I'll tell you. You have a lunatic as a coach who doesn't have a clue how to run a football team, is clueless on offense, and my be just a shade better than Zook!
