Southeastern Conference WBB Schedule

This is dumb and I must intervene. For every win over 10 @gule must use a DiJonai Carrington profile pic for a month. For every loss over 5 @GUNTERSVOL must use a DiJonai Carrington profile pic for a month. The board will vote on the picture but I think I've found the early leader.

Absolutely not! Some bridges I just won't cross.

I'll be happy to ban myself if UTLV can win more than 8. Hell, I hope they go undefeated!.

That’s the easy part my guy. I’ll post that later today.
I’m actually moving up to 12+ SEC wins now.
If last year’s roster could start off I think 6-0 in conference play despite the weak opponents, this roster with 5 players that started full-time or for multiple games in the SEC & Big 10 in their career and 2 more that won Big East Freshmen of the Year will certainly double that win total in the SEC.
Some of our current players on teams like Georgia, Texas A&M were starters and beat Ole Miss, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi State, and Kentucky just last season. Maryland beat Alabama, Kentucky, Duke, Iowa, Ohio State, etc with Kaylene Smikle putting up 20-30 points on these teams. Smikle and White could average 30-40 ppg as a backcourt.
5’9 Naomi White will be outstanding at Tennessee.
If the PG at Vandy at about 5’6 can play in the SEC, then White will be off the charts.
Naomi has proven her scoring ability is at a high level averaging 20 ppg and has already shown flashes this summer in practice.
Most fans on this forum simply don’t study or research basic statistics. This team when healthy and they are trending towards being healthy at some point in fall practice will compete for a Top 5 SEC spot.

List your expected 12 wins by team….just keeping receipts. I got 10-6 myself, but that’s just me. Peace.

When I make a PREDICTION you can challenge me to back it up. You are welcome to go search for one. All kinds of possibilities exist. Without roster trends on every opponent I don’t have a basis for most games.

With TOTAL roster turnover I find it silly to make predictions…. Little value add as a fan to PUT OUT HOPEFUL numbers, less than zero for using free speech to pre trash the season. Magnified when the ole I HOPE I AM WRONG mantra is attached. LACKS SINCERITY!

I will say I am pleased by the character and resolve exhibited so far by the squad in accounts shared so far.

Lady Vols All-Access Episode 3.
The transfer portal was great to Coach Caldwell this offseason. Tennessee finally hit the “luck” jackpot.
Three key takeaways for me were:

1. The physical conditioning of this team by time the regular season starts will be exceptional.
For all the exaggeration about one or two inches of height, this team is full of physically athletic built players with top tier physique.
Even some of the shorter players look physically strong and in great shape.
2. Naomi White looks like a baller. I believe this kid will become a big-name player in the SEC at Tennessee this season. She plays like a mix between Jessica Timmons and Jewel Spear.
3. I do not believe anyone will ever give them credit individually until games are played and won however Gabby Minus, Riley M, Harper Peterson, and Irene O are going to thrive in this system. Iowa does it, Michigan does it, Minnesota does it, UCLA does it and it works. You need players that know how to play basketball.
Every time there’s been a camera filming practices those 4 have been consistently working in practice like it’s a regular season game. I can say that about all 14 but since several others have been individually acknowledge I just wanted to focus on those 4 after watching Ep.3.
This is what Tennessee has been missing.

Since we can’t know how this team will play together, I have to go off I know about the other teams. Ole Miss and TX also have lots of changes as well. I agree with previous posts that lack of size is going to hurt. I don’t see us beating: SC, TX, LSU, OK, and KY. But, maybe I will be pleasantly surprised.

No, 8 total wins... I have no confidence in this team of nobodies. Is there a single girl on it that could even play for LSU, Uconn, or SC, much less start?
On paper this says you are 100% correct. I had never even thought of it across that horizon. It might be a good year despite what it says on paper though.

I think yer selling the talent a little short gule. There are probably multiple girls that could play for the contenders you rolled out. Let it simmer a minute…

lol Kaylene Smikle nearly dropped 20 points on South Carolina in a NCAA tourney game. Aaliyah Moore started games as a sophomore/junior at Texas. LSU recruited Fatmata Janneh who averaged 9.7 rebs in the SEC last season.. so did NC State, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M via the portal.
Anytime people say senseless stuff like this I lol. You have players that came from Oregon and played at South Carolina. Players that came from Miami and Missouri played at at Texas. Players that came from Arizona, Iowa State, Florida, played at LSU.
Anyone thinking those three wouldn’t play or even start at those schools are out of their mind. It’s trolling at this point. Tennessee looks just like 60-70% of the SEC teams on paper. They simply are going to have to gain playing experience together to move up from there.

Maybe you don’t know this but Tennessee beat Kentucky last season. Georgia, a school where Tennessee signed two players from beat Kentucky last season.
Maryland beat Kentucky last season and Kaylene Smikle who is now at Tennessee dropped 20 points on the Wildcats.
I don’t know what you see in Kentucky and that’s fine but Tennessee absolutely can and likely will beat them again in Knoxville. I won’t be surprised when that happens. Also will likely beat Oklahoma and LSU in Knoxville.
Toughest games will be Texas on the road and South Carolina @FCC-TBA. And the team doesn’t lack size. That will be obvious when they put 3 or 4 players on the court at the same atleast 6’0 or taller. This is women’s basketball. It’s a normal size Power 4 team.

12 wins Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Oklahoma, Florida, Kentucky (in Knoxville), Georgia, Alabama, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Missouri, Auburn, Mississippi State.

Toss-Up: Kentucky (road). LSU (home)
Most difficult games: Texas (road).
South Carolina (home)

If Vanderbilt can win games in the SEC with a 5’6 PG that was a no star recruit out of HS and Justin Pissott as a starter than Tennessee with 5 starters from their former school in the SEC/Big 10 including a WNBA projected draft pick averaging nearly 20 ppg over a 3 1/2 year career and 2 former Big East Freshmen of the Year honorees certainly can win anywhere from 10 ( your prediction) and 12 (my prediction) games in the SEC. If Kentucky can win with Teonni Key who had an injury history at both UNC & Kentucky as their 1st-2nd option in the SEC after barely seeing the court in the ACC at North Carolina then Tennessee post players Aaliyah Moore who was ranked #6 out of HS and an All-American (former Texas starter), Fatmata Janneh (former Texas A&M starter), Zhen Craft (Georgia), Riley M (West Virginia) and Harper Peterson (Stanford) are plenty enough.
The players are building chemistry.
Talent was never going to be the issue. The main contributing factor or lack thereof to any success at Tennessee has been and will be chemistry.
If the chemistry building stays strong and is steady throughout this season they will meet this mark comfortably.
List your expected 12 wins by team….just keeping receipts. I got 10-6 myself, but that’s just me. Peace.

Don’t get weird here and think there is an agenda, there is not. Just a prediction for this season:

1. South Carolina
2. LSU
3. Vanderbilt
4. Kentucky
5. Texas
6. Tenn
7. Ole Miss
8. OK

Thats the top half off the SEC imo for this coming season. OM/Tenn/OK almost interchangeable at this stage, top 5 are locks. I have predicted 10-6 for the LV’s, but looking at this ranking I just made, let’s say anywhere from 10-6 and 9-7, I do believe they will win more SEC games than last season when they went 8-8.

Effort, communication, and consistency. Last year’s team refused to compete. If they weren’t fouling or gambling for a steal they didn’t finish plays defensively. I really don’t care to focus on why it happened but it did.
The year before the defense was inconsistent but they were able to be disruptive and force turnovers.
This season, several players have solid numbers defensively in the steals category across the board. I like the athleticism and quickness of Irene, Coulibaly, Minus, and Eads on the perimeter. Janneh, Flauntleroy, Theurkauf, and Smikle all veterans are two way players. Moore, Janneh, and Craft can play inside. The defense is not starting from scratch like you make it seem.
Just as with any team, you don’t know what the defense will look like until games are played.
I recall SC giving up nearly 90 points to North Carolina in a scrimmage last season. UNC wasn’t exactly what I would call an offensive juggernaut. By the end of the season, SC was locking down UCONN defensively heading to the National Championship game.

What is the chemical formula for defense.

Solid prediction based on last season. I wouldn’t mind seeing Tennessee start the season outside of the Top 8 in all predictions. Some people are going to put them near the bottom because that’s what sports media does in these situations.
I don’t expect Vanderbilt to be in the Top 3. I don’t see Vanderbilt being in the Top 5 for that matter. I think they benefited last season from a lot of things that happened with other programs in the SEC.
I don’t expect Kentucky to be in the Top 5.
The two biggest drop offs will be Vanderbilt and Oklahoma.
I believe Kentucky will be around 6-8. Texas will still be in the Top 3. Wouldn’t surprise me to see LSU were you have Texas. The freshman class was not nearly as good as people talked about it being especially against good teams and they did lose Flau’jae Johnson and two other starters.
LSU portal class wasn’t that great either. Solid but not a difference making portal class. Nobody is going to put Tennessee above them at the beginning of the season but I would pick this roster over Kentucky. They added two players from Georgia and Maryland that went for 20 points in wins over KY in Theuerkauf and Smikle. I don’t see how adding O’Neal and the player from UConn who never played moves them up to a Top 5 SEC team after losing Morgan and Key to graduation. That’s weird

You obviously are not familiar with the 2026-27 roster for Kentucky. Here you go:

Reality? That’s funny coming from you Knox.
Obviously, KY has a very strong roster. But reality would be funny coming from this board anymore Rooster.

It went delusion>reality last spring. Im sure the self-appointed Nega Vol Net Nannies are already alerted to chastise us.

But carry on fighting the good fight.

I am pretty certain that there has never been a LV team beginning a season with more unknowns. This is a completely new roster (i.e. a collection of players who have never played together and 2 new assistants) and their expected 3-point sharp shooter is out with an ACL.

I think if they finish 10-6 in the SEC, that would be an accomplishment of note under these conditions.

Agree. Anything over 500 in the SEC would be an accomplishment.

Also, at the three year mark that puts the program exactly back where Kim found it. Mid Pack SEC (higher finishes under KJH but adjusted for an "easier" SEC) and possible Sweet Sixteen. No measurable progress If that's the outcome.

Given everything that's happened, maybe Getting back to square one is an accomplishment. But I think we had hoped for more by this point

II think a determining factor this season may be health. We'll need everyone to recover promptly and properly.

Also we'll need to have found the sweet spot for offseason training. The porridge can't be too hot or too cold. That's one of the peculiarities of this system.
