South Park vs. the 2nd Trump Era (Paramount Merger)

I like SP. One of the finest satirical shows ever. I don’t watch it often because of the gratuitous foul language. Not a prude, just do not think it is required. Matt and the other guy are smarter and better than relying on it. To me, it is a form of laziness in script writing now. Movies suck because of it.

But it is a great show. I always enjoy its virtually unerring ability to hit the target. And as someone mentioned, Trump will not be able to help himself and will most likely respond. Poorly.
It's ubiquitous now, just like weed smell. I was sailing yesterday with a gen Z-er and the F word just rolls off his tongue like any other word. And it's like every other word. I'm fully expecting Dink to roll in and tell me how prudish I am, and that's fine, but to me it shows a lack of respect for the women that were on the boat. If that's prudish, so be it.

Actually, I somewhat agree with you.

Believe it or not, I read the room before I decide whether or not cursing is okay, and one of my biggest pet peeves is people who curse around young children or the elderly.

You lose me at women because it's a generational thing. I'd argue that women my age curse as much if not more than the men.

But above all else, I really can't stand when cursing becomes gratuitous. I believe profanity is a vehicle to emphasize, and should be treated as such. Sh*t and f*** are meant to really bring a point home, and like you said, some just use it every other word.

If I had been on that boat, I would have likely gone full Karen and given the kid a lesson on how to cuss like an adult for the sole reason of embarrassing him to the point of shutting the **** up.

I knew you and I could agree on something. I still to come to your bar and have you make me an Old Smoky. 🤗😎

Latest episode ratings crushed it. #2 in prime demographic and up 89% over the season premier. Looks like Trey and Matt now have a reason to stick with the politics theme... It's working bigly.

“Would you like me to apply the baby oil to Satan’s *******, boss?” tiny JD Vance asks.

I'm the Sailor and my wife curses way more than I do.

Still kinda meh. Nothing really witty in the latest episode. I think the dog thing was overplayed.

Though the JD Vance thing was hilarious.

My thoughts too. The first episode was great IMO.

I think they both are lacking to be honest. The first episode wasn't really anything more than recycled material from the movie in my opinion. They had a lot of low hanging fruit for the left, but it wasn't really witty or original for the most part.

The JD Vance cameo and the Charlie Kirk impressions were the highlight of this latest episode.

They've done better In the past. The Covid series was pure gold. This season isn't really living up to what I expect from them. I'm not going into pearl clutching conservative rage as everyone is a target for them, but this season just hasn't been strong.

Kind of in the Grand camp here. Some chuckles. I did like the dog stuff (probably the only thing I laughed out loud at).

Didn't get the whole Jesus thing in the first episode - I don't see that as a Trump initiative so it didn't fit the narrative; could have gone down the tariff road much stronger instead.

Always like the Satan/Sadam thing so using Trump there along with the photos they used for his head was good.

Not their best work but serviceable.

I took the Jesus thing as commentary on woke is dead, hence PC Principal becoming Power Christian Principal.

As far as Trump's involvement, there was a song at a white house party about how Christianity makes you rich. Didn't this guy hock Trump bibles last year? Isn't his spiritual advisor essentially a televangelist?

Surprised people (not all people) were tepid on the episode. FWIW:

s27 e1 = 9.5 imdb rating
s27 e2 = 8.6 imdb rating

The last time they had an 8.6+ episode = season 19

It wasn't as good as the first episode but it was still funny. ICE invading heaven, Noem indiscriminately murdering every dog, and little Vance were highlights.

Were they doing a Charlie brown thing at the end lol that seemed out of nowhere.
