Sources: UT Athletics Mulling New Apparel Deal With Adidas

This is where I’m torn, I hate Nike but I love Nike.
they are such trash but damn if all the cool kids ain’t wearing them.
🤷‍♂️😞
Yeah, I refuse to buy their gear anymore. But, we went after recruiting when we switched to them. But, if we could get $5-10mil more w another sponsor, that could go along way to a couple of 5* DLs or WRs or or or.

If we aren't going with New Balance, some 608 cleats, and some jort pants, I ain't having it.

The Nike deal was $1 million a year. People on TOS are saying this adidas deal would be worth $15-$20 million a year. If this deal can directly improve our NIL budget, then I am all for it. But, it seems like none of these "money plays" like the Pilot sponsor ever really lead to improvements in recruiting. This is a big move and if it's done, we need to have their best guys working on our jerseys and we gotta have a big jump in recruiting or else it'll backfire.
Gotta keep in mind that we are at the threshold of the settlement being imposed that will limit each school’s ability to pay a player directly from school funds. Moving forward this money will not impact NIL so much. That money will still have to come from outside interests like Spyre. The schools will be under a salary cap in regards what university money can be spent. NIL will still be important as it applies to buying players.

MSN

"Importantly, Sparks reports that the Volunteers design their uniforms in-house, and that ensures that fans won't be surprised with a new color scheme or design they're unfamiliar with."

Interesting
Yes, that is one very important factor people need to understand about this potential deal. Unlike the last time we were under contract with Adidas, Tennessee now has full autonomy over their uniform designs. Under the old contract, we had to wear whatever Adidas came up with but now, we say what we wear and dont wear!

I wonder, if we switch to Adidas, does that mean this "Tennessee" logo will go away in all our branding? If so, thats unfortunate because I've grown quite fond of it.

I think AUB has Under Armor. They still have drab football uniforms. I haven't noticed much redesign.

Whoever we go with, I hope they don't have dark branding.
Anybody remember those years with black adidas emblem on the home and away jerseys? Looked terrible.

I prefer UA Apparel more than anybody else. I'll buy Nike TN Swag, but everything else I buy UA. I wish we would strike a deal with them. Not a fan of Adidas.

The way I see it is that Nike is paying Texas and Ohio state way more than they are paying us. Some of the schools have bigger brands but not 3 times bigger than ours. We would be the biggest brand wearing adidas and would be there number 1 priority in college football

Adidas is killing Nike with hype sneakers and clothing the past few years. Wouldn’t be a bad idea actually to switch back. Nike has gotten really lazy with those two things. But the uniforms look so bad compared to Nike’s.
