Something needs to be said about our QB situation

It was 7-3 when BM went out.

You're right. I forgot about that. He led us down to red zone territory before throwing a pick. Our defense got a TO a couple plays later on the MSU side of the field. Chandler ran it a couple of times then we kicked a FG. You honestly think JG played a part in the FG at all? If anything, Maurer leading the offense down to the red zone in the 1st place is what set up the eventual FG.

That type of game is exactly how Pruitt would like to win every time we play and it's how he is building this program.
If you say so... But Pruitt in his press conference said he didn't expect to win many games playing that conservative.

Strong defensive play alongside a conservative run 1st mistake free offense.
But you don't recognize the "mistakes" JG made so frequently that it finally pushed Pruitt to replace him with a Fr that we both agree isn't as ready as we would like. Maurer's mistakes are because he's trying to play aggressive and hit the open plays. JG was replaced because he wouldn't even try to make those plays. Pruitt has worked hard not to throw JG under the bus but he's mentioned that problem a couple of times. JG just misses too many opportunities in the passing game. Whatever the reason... it isn't a new problem. We discussed it all summer. It was a problem Pruitt and staff thought and hoped was fixed. It wasn't.

Every chance he gets to win that way he will. It's the reason why JG was playing over BM because he had protected the football in the past, not so much this year.
Not according to what they've said. And if that were the only goal... he'd still be playing. Truth is JG is so risk averse that teams can easily defend him then smother the run game.

If Maurer continues to throw it to the other team he will find himself on the bench regardless of what potential our couch coaches believe he possesses.
I don't disagree. If he can't be coached up to avoid some of the mistakes he's making then they'll have to try something else. Hopefully Shrout will get his shot. But the unfulfilled potential of JG is the very reason BM is starting. Maurer is making mistakes of aggression. He's trying to make the play and misfiring. JG's mistakes are passive... the throws he doesn't even try to make. You can't coach up the mistakes of a guy who won't try to make the play.

They will both play Saturday, Alabama's D feast on turnovers and I suspect that both of our QBs are likely to turn it over a couple of times Sat.
No idea what will happen Saturday. BM is erratic. He's a freshman doing freshman stuff. He could give us UGA... or MSU... or even UTC.

We can be all but certain what we'll see from JG. He'll play it hyper safe. Bama will stuff the run... and UT will punt.
