There's nothing subtle about what Jones was saying. However, unlike Digger Phelps or Bob Knight back in the day, he doesn't have the guts to simply say "That guy cheats."Spin it however you want. You hack on Jones for casting unfounded aspersions, then you say he didn't because he doesn't have the stones. In the meantime you throw 'aspersions of ethics' at Jones -- what you criticized him for doing in the first place, all the while acting if there is nothing strange going on with Selby and WWWes.
I'm dizzy.

Nobody comes out of Detroit Public League bathed in glory from a recruiting standpoint. Jones was the lead horse on the recruitment of Ramar Smith. Let's remember some of the coaches who pulled out of that one. That should tell you something. Ask anyone around the Big Ten or the Horizon League how legitimate the academics of the guys Pearl and Jones brought into Milwaukee were. The guy is tied in with people in the Detroit AAU scene who make Wes look like Ghandi. Bottom line, he's got no room to talk. He just wishes he had more powerful friends. In an above post you mentioned that Tony Jones should be the last person in America to decry the ethics of others. Can you provide some examples of Jones' lack of ethics?
The GQ article hit the important parts. Wes is in the relationship business. He gets to know elite players, who then usually end up in Nike shoes and sign with agents friendly with Wes.Hat, do you know anything about Wes and what he does as like a profession really? I don't think many of us know anything about him outside of that story GQ did about him knowing pretty much everyone important and his power.
It's always tough to guess who might be candidates if you don't know when you'll be looking. Start with guys making $2 mil or less and you'd have a baseline. Money talks in the coaching business.I would actually be interested in this too. Honestly though, you could get some pretty great coaches for the same amount of money we're paying Pearl though.
It's impossible for me fathom Kentucky getting Irving, Knight, and Selby. I don't have any inside information on this one, but I wouldn't be surprised to see WWWes help out his old buddy Kenny Payne. Oregon would be a nice platform for Selby. It would certainly make Phil Knight happy.Hat where do you think Selby ends up?
I was thinking Memphis.
