How legit were the grades of the Memphis recruits that Cal brought in?
Unless you want Tanning Bed to be humiliated, you don't want to get into his academic record as a head coach. Cal's graduation rate dwarfs Pearl's. Then again, so does just about everyone else's.

Every bit as legit as the crayon scribbles UT passed off as transcripts for Ramar Smith and Daniel West.

Probably so, but dont act like others arent doing it.

There needs to be a lot of cleaning up in the basketball recruiting world though. To much money involved.

Last year was the first year that I wasnt on the Pearl bandwagon but I cant deny the record he has brought to UT and how he brought UT basketball out of the gutter.

Im not a Pearl Kool-Aid drinker but I dont hate him either.

I'm not acting like they aren't. It's the Pearlophiles acting as if poor honest Tanning Bed and Superfly Jones are being taking advantage of by a corrupt system.

This has been said a billion times, but we have no business having a soccer company as our sponsor.

The whole system is corrupt. The money has to be gotten out of handlers, shoe company camps, and agents need to be banned from the NBA if they are caught passing money.

Yeah, and world peace can be achieved and hunger eradicated. When you get a minute, you should return to reality.

wow some of our basketball fans are complete jokes

Yes, but if this season is about the same as last or worse, you'll see the fan base split. At least, that's what I think.

And I think there is a chance that will happen.

If anyone is a crybaby and needs a towel, its hatvol. This guy does nothing but cry and moan about Bruce Pearl, who has made Tennessee relevent in basketball again, led us to our best season ever, and helped improve our facilities to be some of the best in the nation.

I don't know what makes this guy think he knows everything about basketball but he doesn't and it's pathetic if people actually buy in to this idiot's ideas about Pearl and UT basketball. Go cry to someone who actually cares.

The GQ article hit the important parts. Wes is in the relationship business. He gets to know elite players, who then usually end up in Nike shoes and sign with agents friendly with Wes.
I'm not dismissing reality, but this is ridiculous. How can the NCAA be so stringent on rules and miss this? Wes is a #$%ing cancer (per NCAA rules), yet has never been seriously investigated. I'll join the UT staff debate another time, but this situation is beyond absurd.

Hat, give me one good reason why I'm not getting it?

Do you have the statistics to support this?

Without taking the time and effort to read the GQ article at this ungodly hour: who, exactly, does Worldwide Wes work for? He obviously gets a check from someone, somewhere.

Explain to me how WWWes has violated the first 'AA rule.

I'm sure he's a "consultant" for Nike. He's also likely on the payroll of multiple NBA players. Think of WWWes as a hoops version of George Clooney's character in Michael Clayton.

Those numbers have been pulled up here multiple times. Pearl's graduation rate at UT and Milwaukee are dismal. I think the number at Memphis is now something to the effect that 19 of the last 22 seniors have received their degrees.

This thread is full of hypocritical posts.

How someone can even attempt to justify Cal and WWWes's actions in their shady tactics is beyond me. A blind circus monkey can see that their tactics are nothing short of unethical, shady, and just plain dirty.

I actually chuckled at the fact that some posters (primarily one) will blast Tennessee for recruiting Selby. However, in light of the recent turn of events, these posters (again, primarily one) are defending Cal and WWWes for their cheating ways and still attempting to take shots at Tennessee in the process. It's a sad attempt to deflect the argument. Again - Insert Circus Monkey example.

Anyone who is a follower and fan and supporter of Coach Cal has, for all intents and purposes, given up any right to call into question the ethics of another individual. To do so, again, is the epitomy of hypocrisy.

I suppose it's no longer possible to question Bruce for taking Selby, despite his "attitude." It seems the kid is quite the wanted man now.

This thread is all about the advancement of an agenda.

Mike Anderson was listed as a possible next coach in this thread - I think he would be an outstanding hire for Tennessee. I also think we wouldn't be able to dream of luring him from Mizzou if not for the last four years of UT Basketball.
