I'm pretty sure that Simms was the one that said he is making the highlight reels but for the wrong reasons.

U made a reasonable response on a Sports board.

Therefore ur argument is invalid...

Sorry I don't makes the rules. :hi:

Simms has my belief in him. He's got talent and can make some big throws when able to. He stuck in there sat and had a guy in his face when he made that long throw to hunter. I was like wow, he just did that with a huge guy in his face, what can he do when there isn't. What I'm trying to say is, you vol fans get off your high horse and deal with what we got, Dooleys an excellent coach and will bring talent and resurrect this program. Simms will win us some big games, aka uga & ole miss. I'm not throwing in the towel already against bama either. I think we could win the rest of our games and if a loss it would go against bama. But I'm lookin forward to watch simms play every sat until the end of this season on to next! GBO!

I have gained a lot of respect for Simms. Every time he gets hit he gets up, dust off, and goes on with the next play.

I agree. The first game or two I wasn't sure about him and couldn't wait until next year with Bray but since then I've come to the "strong" realization that it's by far the OL play and I can't appreciate enough how he keeps fighting the way he is and goes on to the next play like absolutely nothing happened and I mean hell to the point of cracking jokes with the players and rallying them up. He definitely has my respect.

Simms to OL:

"****, I don’t care if I get hit. None of them are going to hit me hard enough to hurt me, anyway.”

One LSU guy sacked Vols QB Matt Simms in 1st quarter and told him, "We'll be here all day." Simms said, "That's fine. I'll be here, too."

Gooch said about Simms, "I've never seen a quarterback talk to a defensive lineman like that. Most quarterbacks will shy away."

If you don't know by now he is a team leader and a guy the team believes in ya'll are crazy. He'll be the starting QB next year book it.

I think he's the starter next year also. Although he will need to improve on a few things but I thing they will come with growing together as an offensive unit.

Great quotes. Been alot of fun seeing him become a leader on this team. I was skeptical of him, lik all were, but he seems to really have the IT factor a quarterback needs.

I heard Simms got hit in the 4th quarter, and I heard that when the defender fell on top of him, that defender turned to orange kool-aid powder... Link???

He's tough and doesn't take any crap, I respect that about him. I do agree with others that he can't really be graded on how good he is when he is constantly hurried and getting up off the ground..

Just read this one after check out this post. I think its the best one.

"We don't have a choice. We have to bounce back. This is a long season and we have to play against a lot of other good teams and a lot of other good defenses. It was a tough loss. But I can't lie, as soon as we got off of that plane back in Knoxville I moved on," quarterback Matt Simms said.

I think you can judge him on his play even when he is getting knocked down.

Against Oregon and Florida, it was bad. Against UAB and LSU, it was good.

I'm a convert. I didn't think he could develop anymore, but its clear he can mature and grow. And he is. I hope it keeps up. He's the only QB that can take that kind of beating and keep going we have.

Nice quotes but really, the quote I want to hear him say this weekend is, "After I threw the winning TD pass I..."

Modify that to say that he is the only QB with any starting talent at the moment. Nash Nance is a big boy QB but we dont know anything about his abilities.

Nash is a big boy, but he's also an 18 year old kid hasn't played a down of college ball. I don't see him or Bray getting through the past four games without being shell shocked to the point of being useless. I would have said the same thing about Simms had he been here as a Freshman as well.

I'm not willing to say Bray and Nash don't have starting talent. I don't think that can be determined for sure until they've done it. I don't think its fair to either of them to be put in at this point. Originally I did want Bray in there first. I was wrong about that. Simms is starting to play well, and its not fair to a freshman to have to start a career back there right now.

Happy to see he is getting props, well deserved. I am excited to see how this O performs next year when they all have experience. I will say it was impressive to see the lack of mental mistakes (penalties) made for such young men in a harsh environment.

People gave Casey Clausen a hard time too, and that guy took a lot of hard hits and got back up and kept going. I think it means a lot that he's mentally and physically tough, but he really needs to try to avoid getting hit ya know.

He got heart and isn't afraid of a fight. You need that as a leader. He'll make that OL wanna go to war to protect him. They're not doing so hot right now. But, they'll get better and by the end of the season, should be solid. We'll get Schofield back probably for the Bama game. Maybe "Stinger Boy" too.

If I read correctly, Gooch is starting to get it now. Pope may have missed his chance.

He may not be the best passer, but he is as tough as nails and has earned my respect. GBO
