Some of you so-called "fans" on here..........

You did nothing wrong, or even offensive. Don't sweat it. It was a valid comparison, with no obvious ill-intent. The safe-spacers need to learn to self-soothe a little bit. There are very few people in the country today that have not been effected by cancer in someway today. The phony outrage being exhibited has become the only way some know to react to an opposing view. Take a look at the evening news for evidence.

:good!:

Remarking that cancer isn't a favorite analogy of mine shouldn't qualify as going all "safe space"...I'd hope you'd agree. Didn't have "outrage" myself, but I don't think any exhibited on here was contrived. :hi:

Considering that his analogy was actually about an oncologist, but you still felt the need to derail a thread on a football forum to drum up faux outrage over "cancer insensitivity" is pretty much going all "safe space."

Everyone you know, and everyone you ever meet will be affected by cancer in some way, either dealing with it themselves, or losing a family member to it. It's not some topic that is suddenly off limits.

I didn't name you....you're typically very even in your responses to people. I also didn't say anything was contrived. To the contrary, this type of reaction has become learned behavior in large parts of our society. It's very real...which is what makes it so distressing.

I don't have a dog in this fight but I just noticed something I find amazing. As of 3 p.m. central time, "Butchna" has 30, 411 posts here. He joined the forum in 2013. So even if he joined on January 1st, 2013, that comes to an average of 22.4 posts per day, every day, to arrive at 30, 411.
I'm not saying this is good or bad because what a man does with his time is his business but I do find the numbers to be incredible. Got to be a record or something.
I joined in December of 2007 and I only have 416 total posts. So "Butchna" I tip my hat to your dedication.

JMHO

Oncology is the treatment of CANCER...so it's not off base. And HE brought it into the thread...so it wasn't a stretch...and like pretty much all threads on here, it's not sacred. This was a thread about being tired of Negavols...so the "football topic" is...a stretch that is. And stating that I don't like the NON-FOOTBALL analogy didn't derail anything. Was with my wife over 18 years and had to watch her suffer slowly over the last one...so screw your safe space rationale.

Doesnt take me as long or as much effort as you apparently. I think about 20,000 entries ago, someone first remarked I post too much. And? :dunno:

90% of the people complaining when we're at 2-0 I would wager are under the age of say 28.

Most older people can have debates on positives and negatives, strengths and weaknesses. Its the childish who cant do that without slinging names around like negavol, sunshine pumper and pulling fan cards.

The great news is whether you are a negavol or a sunshine pumper, all actions must come to account in time. For Butch, the great day of reckoning begins on September 24th and ends on October 15th.

Everything up until then is just words and hype. This is the final exam and there's nothing anyone can do about the facts, whatever they turn out to be. There will be no more argument to be had. No debate. His actions will stand on their own, good or bad , for all to bear witness to.

i would challenge your definition of "debate". 98% of the posts on this board are childish, cyclical arguments. i also see many talk about the glory years and pre-phil. so i'd say most of both the young and old on this board can't have intellectual spirited debate without turning into a child when your wrong or can't accept when someone does not see eye-to-eye.

It sucks that your wife got cancer, it sucks that you had to watch her go through that, but if reading the word "cancer" or "oncology" affects you so, then you should seek professional help. You, took the analogy personally, that's not his fault, his fault is being a gator fan.

No one makes you read or post here. If you find no value in our discourse...well...there have been plenty of memes posted which can advise you.

You are clueless.

Tell me, in his 4th season with 17 returning starters, most of them JR's and SR's, just when exactly is CBJ's team supposed to put it all together? It's not "lady luck" that determines whether or not a team plays at a championship level. It's recruiting, development, and in-game coaching. Now, actually winning a championship, yes there is some luck involved but I'm not talking about that. I'm simply talking about playing at a championship level and so far we are not doing that! If you disagree then you're not paying attention to the rest of college football.

Such passion!
Such fire!
Such Bravevolery!

Such fall on your face lack of comprehension.

The coaches are here because the university is paying them to be here. When those checks stop then they aren't fans anymore.

Great point! Butch Jones is a VFL because he presently gets paid to be one. If he leaves, he will cease to be one. Isn't that called hypocrisy?

are making me seriously consider not coming back to VolNation. True, we have not looked like world-beaters the first 2 games and I am as disappointed as anyone. But some of you "fans" continue to bash the coaches and players on a daily basis. If you know so freaking much about football, then I encourage you to send Dave Hart your resume immediately....and we all will sit back and watch how its done.

I have been a Vol fan for a long time having grown up in KnoxVegas listening to John Ward's play by play on the radio before many games were on TV. As a student, I rarely missed a game. At the end of the day, I support the Vols 100%...win, lose, or draw. It pisses me off to read some of the sheet some of you post bashing the team, players, and coaches.

Fact is, most of you (me included) never played a freaking down of organized football. But I love the game and I love my Vols. So unless you can become Head Coach, OC, DC, etc and make the team better STHU and support OUR team. I would rather be an 8-4 Vol than a 12-0 Gator, Bulldog, or Bammer any day of the week!

Now lets kick some Bobcat @$$ and then worry about the Lizards. GBO!!

We all support the Vols 100% but we are not blind either. I would agree you should not consider coming back to VolNation because 1000 or so people agreeing on everything is boring and weird.

Hey look, if the Vols start blocking...everything will be fine. If not..UT is in trouble. Right now it looks like they're in trouble.
