Passion v stupidity. It is the lack of filtering between the brain and the mouth/text, couple with the security of anonymity and lack of courtesy. Not everything or every thought needs to be said.

Personally, i do not like the excessively critical comments.

I also don't agree with bashing any player in college, they're there playing and practicing and doing their best.

I do have a problem with your statement that they're playing for free. They get free room, board and tuition. They get the best of tutors to help them get a college degree from a good university. That's not free and it's worth a lot of money.

For the few that go on to play in the NFL that scholarship is just a conduit, for most it's a life changing opportunity and also not something they could have gotten without their football skills.

They're not playing for free.

I saw the Blair thread it was a bashfest with some trying to be cute with their attempts at jokes.I have no doubt that Blair tried his best...he just wasn't good enough to play at this level...happens sometimes with JUCO players

Never bash players that don't deserve it.

Now, the real question is, what determines them being deserving?

Guys like Da'Rick Rogers, who just stirred up more crap than anything, deserve it.

Don't think North does.

And at Tennessee, they now get the highest cost of living compensation in the SEC. Playing for free? If they ever were, not anymore.

And if the complaint about bashing is concerning the reactions to Marquez North's decision to go pro, I haven't seen that. I have seen concern that this move will result in him going undrafted.

When players come here, Vol fans have high hopes for them. We want to one day see them be first round draft picks, and pull down a rookie contract that reflects the potential they brought to Knoxville. For comparison's sake, suppose this past season had seen North's junior year resulted in highlights and statistics that had rivaled the year of LaQuan Treadwell. We would still hate to see him go, but we would not argue his choice.

North, IMO, came to Tennessee with equal talent as Treadwell. But Treadwell overcame a devastating injury to have a stellar final season for Ole Miss. North had a series of badly timed lesser injuries that robbed him of playing time.

We are not bashing North for making this choice. We are bashing whoever the agent is that has convinced him he will get drafted. And if the arrogant OP doesn't know the difference, again I say he needs to quit reading Clay Travis. The surgeon general has determined that playing attention to Clay Travis is hazardous to your mental health. Get help.

I agree, we do have a dumb fan base:

We sit on our hands until 3rd down(why not get loud on 1st and 2nd?).

We can't even figure out when to stand it sit, it's simple, don't be a Jackwagon about it.

Is it too much to ask: Can you wear orange to the game? Or white? Or black? Or gray? Or pink?(ladies) Or some sort of Vol clothes?

Handle you alcohol.

Some bash players for not being very good (bash a player for not giving their all), don't bash for not being very good at football,(they are all better, than all of you and me).

Since I'm telling the truth:

Don't bash the players, it is a form of cyber-bullying, I remember it hurting one player's feelings. So stop being mean to the players, they may talk top recruits from being a VFL, due to a negative experience while on the Hill. And probably wouldn't want to send their kids to the Hill, or come back and coach.

Believe it or not we will win games and we will lose games, as long as they are giving their all that is all any fan can expect can expect from the players.

If they just aren't good enough, that's on the coaches. And that's another whole ball of wax.

If you are going to post about a player, the least you could do is act like they might see what you post and won't think you are a big Jackwagon, for what you post. They may think my post are irrelevant, but they won't think I'm a Jackwagon for what I say, unless they get offended by me running down other programs, I will do that, and if they don't like it, convince me why I should stop.

And just because other fan bases are a bunch of jackwagons doesn't mean, that the Vol fan base has to be a bunch of jackwagons.

I will give my all for Tennessee today!

Condescending? If defending the program and especially the players fall into that category then I'm guilty. It is very easy to discuss a players ability or their input on the team without calling them names or calling them out. There's a huge difference.

The thread on Blair was so bad it got deleted. Bashing players is absolutely classless. I don't apologize a bit for calling clowns who bash players out.

Most on VN support the players and coaches. It takes a lot for there to be a change. And then there are those who seem to take great pleasure in attacking. It is my guess that those people never played the game, except on a video game. Most will never know just how difficult it is to succeed in the SEC. Also there are those who come on VN having had too much to drink and say things that should never have been said. I suspect players and recruits know the difference.
