So, about that OC position.... (Merged)

In other news my wife thinks Im crazy or she doesn't. Aight shes about 95% on this one but WTF is the point of this "article"?

“Sometimes when you have someone on staff that you trust and he is right there and gives ideas and suggestions and part of the game plan, you know he is ready then it is a no-brainer,” the SEC veteran head coach told Vols Wire. “If you don’t have one that is ready, then you take your time and make sure who you hire is the right fit.”

Profound insight.

But also says fitting your player personnel around your hire. Saban is known for this.

If this is what volwire produces, why are they a thing? that was awful, literally said nothing.

It says everything. Saban coached at two SEC schools and made every OC hire fit around his player personnel. He is an active head coach and can't put his name on it.

To me the article itself says nothing, he gave every scenerio and said you take your time and find the right fit.....well obviously he is taking his time.

If it is saban....he is just being nice to his friend...remember he said Dooley was a good coach.

If Tee came back, I would be ecstatic. I understand he spurned us many times, but he's still Tee, and a great offensive mind. I think the more VFLs we have on staff, the better.
How do you know Tee is a great offensive mind? Are we seeing his offense or him running or co-running someone elses offense?

Bill Curry coached at 2 SEC schools if my recollection is correct. Dan Mullen coached at 2 SEC schools as did Will Muschamp. Houston Nutt too and then there are plenty of assistants who have jumped around to more than 1 school. It could be any number of people.

Here are others: Previous changes have featured a coach going directly from one SEC member to another, as Dan Mullen has in leaving Mississippi State after nine seasons for Florida. While several coaches have guided more than one SEC program, including three of the most successful in Paul "Bear" Bryant, Steve Spurrier and Nick Saban, the ones who have gone directly from one league member to another are Bill Curry (Alabama 1987-89 and Kentucky 1990-96), Doug Dickey (Tennessee 1964-69 and Florida 1970-78), Gerry DiNardo (Vanderbilt 1991-94 and LSU 1995-99), Red Drew (Ole Miss 1946 and Alabama 1947-54), Harry Mehre (Georgia 1928-37 and Ole Miss 1938-1945), Houston Nutt (Arkansas 1998-2007 and Ole Miss 2008-2011), Tommy Tuberville (Ole Miss 1995-98 and Auburn 1999-2008) and Chet Wynne (Auburn 1930-33 and Kentucky 1934-37). DiNardo, Drew and Tuberville had better records at their second stops than they did at their first. The others did not. Mullen had a 69-46 record at Mississippi State” - SEC Football by the Numbers: Coaching changes

Well, I don't think Paul "Bear" Bryant is commenting on the Vols OC search. Nor is Red Drew, Henry Mehre or Chet Wynne. Love the info though on the head coaches. I had forgotten about Dinardo and don't go back to Drew or the others before him. Did Bryant not have a better record at Bama than Kentucky both numbers wise and percentage wise? A&M wasn't in the SEC when he coached them.

I'm starting to wonder the same thing. I'd think it'd be from Alabama though since that is where Pruitt is from. The NC hasn't played yet so maybe they are waiting until it's over to announce?

I think Pruitt would like Sarkisian at this juncture, but I think Sark is waiting to see if Pete Carroll fires Brian Schottenheimer.

Now here is a thought-provoking thread. Well-phrased, sound premise, should get.....oh, I dunno, 40 pages of intense discussion.

I truly believe it'll be Chaney. He'd be a great fit and loves east tn.

I truly believe it is Freeze! Wrong. I truly beliwve it is Enos! Wrong. I truly think it is the Oklahomo State OC! Wrong.

When Pruitt was hired, a dozen names were tossed out there but no one had Pruitt on their radar until, the last week. If there is an OC hire, it will be someone we haven't even thought of yet.
I still think someone will be promoted and no one will be hired
