Anyone else playing Dispatch?

Its not much of a video game, but what it is is insanely fun and funny.

I describe it more as an interactive comic book than modern free choice/your decisions matter video game.

The video game aspect is you as a dispatcher who has a team of misfit ex-cons you send out to deal with various issues. You have to blend their abilities and traits to handle a given situation based on cues. Much more of a puzzle game rather than action/fighting.

By that i mean the results are based on a "dice roll" rather than controlling various characters to directly (1st or 3rd person). There are some interactive fight scenes which are engaging and fast paced but that isn't the main draw. Its mostly about the characters various stats and traits and how they pair with the mission and a given teammate you may or may not use.

I am about half way thru but having an amazing time. The characters and writing are absolutely top tier. I actually find myself looking forward more to the cut scenes rather than the parts of the game where you do more stuff. But even in the cut scenes there are things to do in interactive mode.

Easy to pick up even without a real tutorial. I haven't tried the cinematic mode, but definitely think the interactive is the way to go. Its 30 bucks I think, which seems a bit steep for how much game you are getting, caveat of only being half way thru, but the quality and fun is hard to find.

Yeah,I came across it without hearing anything about it. I'm a huge fan of the free choice/your decisions matters games and what Telltale used to make before going under. I heard this was from some developers that worked for Telltale and fell in love with it.

The characters are well written. The choices you can make are interesting. The dispatch sections are really cool. I think I liked that part of it the most. It's probably up there with Death Stranding 2 as my game of the year in 2025.

After I beat it twice,I've been replaying the choices matter/Telltale style games a lot on steam. I heard it sold great so hopefully theres a sequel in a few years.

there are some powerful choices, but I feel like a lot of them it doesn't matter which choice you make. which is why I think of this as a comic book, you are going to a predefined point you just get to decide how much of it is your fault without knowing that you control that impact.

not taking away from the game, just the way I have begun to think about the game itself. IDK maybe it changes when I finish the story and see more.

Anyone who has a Switch 2, I highly recommend the racer Fast Fusion. If youre a fan of FZero, this is a modern take on that type of racer. It looks gorgeous, its super fast, and a blast to play. And best of all its only like 10 bucks on the Nintendo Store! The only downside is there's no online play. Multiplayer is up to 4 player split screen.

Been playing through Indiana Jones and the Great Circle this past week, and I’m blown away at how good it is. It feels like a long lost Indiana Jones movie from the 80s, Troy Baker even sounds exactly like Harrison Ford! It has the sharp, funny writing of the first 3 movies, and the globetrotting adventure fun as well. The puzzles are challenging but fair, and as someone who isn’t big on puzzles in games-for me to like a games puzzles, it’s high praise.

This game should’ve been Indy 5 instead of Dial of Destiny. I strongly recommend anyone who likes Indiana Jones to try it out.

I play this 'game' on occasion to relax. I think I got it on sale for $1.99 or so.

I kinda want to hate play this. Just to see how it models traffic vs the real world. because I LOATHE traffic engineers design in the real worlds. counter intuitive and don't seem to fix anything.

Here's where I saw the game first if you really are interested. Great game for being only 17 megs in size.

Couple other similar games are Mini Motorways and GridRoad.

If anyone needs a TES itch scratched, Tainted Grail: Fall of Avalon has been an extremely pleasant surprise.

I just finished "Still Wakes the Deep" on steam, and it was a lot of fun. It took me about 5 hours to finish, but it was short and sweet. It's a Lovecraft themed game about a Scottish guy on an oil rig in the 70s when this creature overtakes it because they drill too deep. I'll leave it at that. I highly recommend it.

Bought a new PC strategy game I am enjoying. Ultimate General Civil War. It scratches a big time itch I have had. You are the general commanding whichever ever side you choose. One battle impacts the next. Real simple to pick up and learn. Battles are actually challenging, rewarding, and addictive.

It's not just the big battles either.
I have that game. I need to play it more

As tuck said Steam is a good option. Probably some other platforms out there that have it too. I think there is a mobile version too, slightly different name. Havent played so I dont know how it is.

If 20 bucks sounds too much you can try waiting for one of their sales on steam.
I really like playing those Civilization games

I actually just started a new campaign as the union. and remembered why I don't play as them too much. by 1862 I am way OP and will generally table the confederates in most battles.

one thing that surprises me about that game, with all of the smaller battles they include, they don't have anything for Chattanooga. As a native of there, I am probably putting too much significance to it, but considering some of the battles that are in there, it would make sense imo. there was a fair number of men on both sides, casualties weren't insignificant, and it was the last nail in the coffin for the western theatre.

considering they include at least one of the battles around Atlanta, Chattanooga should be in there. imo of course.

That's not a "small game" bud
