SEC media: TN Picked 3rd in East; no votes for SEC Champ

Maybe 4-4 in the SEC isn't considered mediocrity at UK? Maybe it isn't considered mediocrity at UT, either. The police will have to report in on that.

19-30 gets you fired at Tennessee. 30-21 gets some fans deluding themselves into thinking that Chip Kelly's on his way to save the day. :superman:

Thanks Beech
Not totally sure yet. Something in the abdominal area. Doing CTs (2 so far) blood wotk, even ultrasound. Still working on it but they'll figure it out.

Just reading tonight, don't need anymore stupid around right now. Lol.

Hoping everything is okay man, you'll be in my thoughts.

Me too, Charger, praying for you that you're not pregnant or anything weird, and will be out and about in no time.

Does anyone know how many times the media has correctly predicted the East Division Champion over the last 15 years? 2 times.

I'm not sure if that's entirely accurate, but it sounds good and I think I heard it somewhere.

That's sounds right to me, and I don't see Georgia winning the East this year especially if they lose in Neyland Stadium to the Vols. Florida is my pick to win the East unless the Vols can upset them in the Swamp.

A couple of things to keep in mind here. While the spacing of the big games is better than last year, the schedule is still not our friend. We play Alabama, which I hate to say it, but not a lot of chance we beat them, so that already puts us down a game. We also play LSU who most project to be 2nd or 3rd in the West, although I am not sure just how good they are going to be this year. FL also plays LSU so we are equal there schedule wise, but they get Texas A&M, not close to Bama. GA gets Auburn, who some are picking to finish 2nd in the West, so about equal to us with LSU on the schedule, but they also get Miss St., possibly the worst team in the West, so compared to Bama that would put them one up on us. We will have to beat both of these teams to have a chance to win the East, unless they mess up against someone they should beat.
Regarding last season, I think some people do not understand just how much the injuries, especially on defense, hurt. I read 27 people started in the 11 defense positions last year, and I think only one starter was out the first 3 or 4 games, so that meant most of the injuries were in the last half of the season. They simply could not get any consistency with all the missing players in the last half of the season, and I think that by the Vandy game, the D was just demoralized. Barring substantial injuries like last season, I think the D will be noticeably better this year, even without Barnett, and I think we have a good chance to beat GA or FL (possibly even both) but the schedule still goes against us winning the East. GBO.

Haha, not me.
I was having a little fun. It's meaningless and worthless predictions and no true way to make sense of them and wouldn't accomplish anything if you could.
But im stuck in the hospital and you wanted to put in the effort to connect the imaginary dots and give the hidden meaning, I figured what the hell, let's watch. It passed some time.

Hospitals are hell. Last time I was admitted, I was on their diabetic diet so I couldn't even get a decent breakfast. And after my first couple of gorgeous nurses they started sending clones of my unmarried aunt. :yuck: Get well soon and don't me alone with these loons!

In keeping with the tenor of the times, Vol fans should just proclaim: Fake News! Fake News!

I like it better when we are flying under the radar. We've given voters no reason to expect us to win. Let's go out and prove them wrong this season.

I think football teams have a nasty habit of being better when there are no real stars on the team. When the guy who has gotten all the attention and credit for winning leaves for one reason or another, a good team looks inward and decides they have to do it together to make it work.

A favorite example is the year (1985) that Daryl Dickey stepped in when Tony Robinson was injured. It was amazing what that team accomplished - especially the best game ever - destroying Miami in the Sugar Bowl. Hearing Keith Jackson choke on his words when he realized it wasn't going to be a Miami rout and that Miami was going down was better than the smell of napalm in the morning.

It was further an example of how defense wins games. We were in the Miami backfield all night - eventually disrupting their confidence so badly that they couldn't have beat a good HS team.

I think we win the East...pressure was not good for last years team...along with Hurd cancer, JRM/DKjr/CS being lost early...D staff having inner squabbles...then bookoo injuries...you know those things.

Or, this sounds crazy but here me out, Mason is actually a decent coach and he won those games by taking advantage of weaknesses and having a star RB. I know I know, anyone that Vandy would hire must be a bad coach, but just maybe he's not as bad as we all hoped he would be.

I have to agree with this.

But, and I have to throw a but in there, when Franklin was there he was lucky in that he caught us and a couple of other teams while we were down. And, they modified their scheduly for more friendly OOC games.

Can't say much because that's what we did with NC State.

I like this...Talent is there but not young men reading all the proverbial posterior smoke..Entering my 29th year of following the Vols..using the vibe before season trigger..... now believe we win the east

Well , let's see-- UK beat Louisville and their Heisman QB to win the Governor's Cup, beat Miss St-- their cross-division rival-- beat Vandy and SCAR to tie UT and UGA for 2nd in the SECE and achieved their team goal of getting to a bowl game-- the Taxslayer Bowl. None of those things were accomplished the year prior and all represented a step forward for UK.

They seem to be feeling pretty good about their season and their coach in the alternate universe of Lexington.
it was not a tie with us beating them both so we win the tiebreaker. Not happy with 4-4 regardless
