No doubt...there was all this talk about UT being sued, but lawyers probably instructed him that he could go to court, but the by-product of him suing would be all the dirty laundry, which would be career suicide..whether true or not. Notwithstanding, Ohio State comes out with venom statements about how we should have hired him, yet when they were given the opportunity to put him as their HC, they didn't.If it wasn’t true then he would have sued. He hasn’t made much of an effort other than saying it’s not true. I think he witnessed it and doesn’t want to sue because more would come out about what he witnessed.
His record at Rutgers last time was .500, in a weaker conference. Between the Penn St thing, his tenure at TB, and his hasty departure from the Patriots, he has quite a bit of baggage. All that doesn't exactly scream "back up the Brinks truck". But, that's what Rutgers is doing. We'll see what happens. I'm still glad it's not Tennessee that hired him. If that makes me "dull" to people in NJ, I guess I'll just have to live with that.
I still think he did a pretty good job at Rutgers, but the reason he was able to go .500 there was because Miami and Virginia Tech left the Big East for the ACC starting with the 2005 season. Check out his record - he started to have good years there starting in 2005. There was a power vacuum and he filled it (or helped fill it, because Rutgers actually never won the Big East when he was there). His record at Rutgers last time was .500, in a weaker conference. I think they'd be better off with Addazio. He's also a .500 coach who could be had cheaper and doesn't have the baggage. Besides, if Schiano and Rutgers didn't want the comparison made, Schiano shouldn't have talked smack. The problem is you all are comparing a hire for rutgers with Tennessee. Tennessee as a job is about 50x more desirable and the pool to pull from is about 50x greater. A coach like Pruitt would never accept a job At rutgers. Schiano is literally the best they can get. Besides for him the other 2 fallback plans were reported as BC head coach who just got fired and Michigan’s LB coach. I would not have hired him at tennesseee but he’s the best bet to bring any bit of success’s back to rutgers
Here's my whole issue with Schiano-
McQueary testifies that Bradley said Schiano saw the abuse happen. Yes, that's third hand information (albeit under oath). First, I couldn't understand what McQueary had to gain by making this up.
Secondly, I had an issue with Schiano's response....a tweet.
Wrongly accused of this my response would have been:
1-Stomp mudhole in McQueary and Bradley.
2- get bailed out
3- pay for a lie detector test out of my own pocket
4- post results online and buy and full page ad in USA today
5- repeat #1
He didn't have any of the baggage back then either. I see .500 as his ceiling in that job with the way things stand now. All of it makes his little dig even more amusing. I hope we get to play them in a bowl game sometime soon.I still think he did a pretty good job at Rutgers, but the reason he was able to go .500 there was because Miami and Virginia Tech left the Big East for the ACC starting with the 2005 season. Rutgers was an absolutely nothing program when he got there, and you wouldn't have necessarily expected a school like Rutgers to fill the vacuum, so he does deserve some credit for that. But he absolutely would not have been as successful as he was without that conference losing its two biggest schools.
Schiano was successful at Rutgers when Rutgers was in the Big East; (Cupcake city) . The Big 10 is a mite harder comp. 2-10 ,3-9, 2-10 and He gone. Rutgers better try like hell to get into the MAC. WHOEVER signed off on Schiano for coach at UT needs to be banned from this program and Committed.

That'll never happen. Rutgers is in the Big Ten for financial reasons, not competitive reasons. They get a s**tton of money from the Big Ten.Schiano was successful at Rutgers when Rutgers was in the Big East; (Cupcake city) . The Big 10 is a mite harder comp. 2-10 ,3-9, 2-10 and He gone.
