RW headed back to UT

Still waiting for a response to the stats Freak provided.
What? That this icon who people act as if was Jerome Brown or Warren Sapp at the collegiate level had passable numbers his first two years? He was great at UT for half a season. Period. People act as if he was Ron Simmons.

I love it when golfers try to act like athletes. It's so cute.

As usual, you deflect away from your pathetic posts and try to make it about someone else. I didn't say anything about me. I requested you remind us of your collegiate athletic pedigree since you are so quick to bash those who have played.

Nobody is trying to act like an atlete. Still, virtually every golfer I have competed against in college is a better atlete than you

Period. Screw the facts. I will say definitive things with no backup and the only defense needed is my definitive statement.

Amazing. I'm stunned MHF is allowing his title to be taken with such little resistance. I expected more competitive fire from him. I guess he's busy working his Eddie Gran rosary beads in advance of UT's NCAA hearing.

Of course, I can only speak for the guys who were at UT when I was there and several guys I went to high school with who played everywhere from Oral Roberts to Eastern Kentucky. There may be some schools with a bunch of LeBron James types on the links. I'm just saying I'd take my chances against most golfers outside of their sport.

Swimmers, on the other hand, were the bane of my existence at UT. They're way too well conditioned to be competing against mere mortals. There's nothing less enjoyable than looking up at a tie score and 5 minutes on the clock drenched in your own scotch tinged sweat and seeing the other guys aren't even breathing hard.

He was great at UT for half a season. I also think he had a great career at Tennessee.

No one compared him to Warren Sapp or Jerome Brown. Besides, both probably have better stats than Reggie did in college, right? More career tackles and sacks?

I think it's more along the lines of people taking exception to the description of "massive underachiever", "malingerer" and "inconsistent" -- and the personal attacks of bigotry and the John Rocker comparisons.

We do agreee that Reggie's last season (or half season) was his best; 15 sacks is an incredible accomplishment.

That's simply not true. UT's fanbase has tried to make Reggie White something he wasn't for 20 years. They act as if he was one of the great defensive linemen in college football history. He wasn't, save the last two months of his career. His NFL career has distorted what he actually was in college. That's the point. He was always complaining of nagging injuries at UT. He made comments that, had they been made by, let's say, Steve McMichael, would have ended his career and forever stained his legacy. He's simply not the icon he's portrayed as. Philadelphia Eagle and Green Bay Packer fans have far more reason to engage in ReggieWorship than UT supporters.

I know. Who started this train wreck?
I'm pretty sure I see the referee motioning you to the box for a five minute instigator penalty. I do think the quota on Reggie White debates has been met. It's bad form to go past five in attacks on sacred cows. Even Christopher Hitchens finally quit skewering Mother Teresa.

I haven't seen anyone in this thread argue that he was the greatest lineman in college football history.

The support for my definitive statement is my definitive statement.

I just realized this thread was supposed to be about Renaldo Woolridge and is in the wrong forum.

It's a common belief among many. You're not alone. I suppose it depends on how YOU might define an athlete. My definition is one that can play many sports well and has great hand/eye coordination. You may define it as running fast, jumping high, etc. Looking at Mark Calcavecchia, you would never think the guy used to be a player on the basketball court, but he was and spurned small college offers to play basketball rather than golf. Tom Watson was an all state QB. Hale Irwin was a starting DB at Colorado. Azinger was a competitive swimmer. The list goes on

The ultimate frisbee hippies were also a pain in the ass. It's not right for people with cocaine and hard liquor in their system to be forced to compete against people only impaired by pot and granola.

:lolabove:

I will see a lot of the pot and granola crowd this week at Bonnaroo:ill_h4h:

Maybe this should be a regular summer thing. Let's start threads with ambiguous titles and see where the discussion goes. :)
