I'm defining it as a guy who made some all state baseball teams, was recruited by a bunch of OVC-Sun Belt type schools, passed on an offer to take a shot at walking on at UT and used to be a pretty fair basketball player. I say that not as braggadocio, but to show the baseline I start at. I was an undergrad at UT from '89-'92. One of my best friends from high school was a UT golfer and I got to know most of those guys. They were a successful team. Most of those guys were comparable athletically to me. Some better, some worse. It's a common belief among many. You're not alone. I suppose it depends on how YOU might define an athlete. My definition is one that can play many sports well and has great hand/eye coordination. You may define it as running fast, jumping high, etc. Looking at Mark Calcavecchia, you would never think the guy used to be a player on the basketball court, but he was and spurned small college offers to play basketball rather than golf. Tom Watson was an all state QB. Hale Irwin was a starting DB at Colorado. Azinger was a competitive swimmer. The list goes on
Why would I need ESPN to remember games I attended and saw White limping around while, for example, Auburn walked up and down the field in '83? ...Amazing analogy of Reggie White's on the field performance by hat at the age of 11, and without cable tv and espn to analyze. Remember kiddos, make your own judgements and opinions, rather than plagiarizing those of people that may end up making you look like a fool.

Posted via VolNation MobileJiminy Christmas I just want to know who RW is! Reggie White was far from a bigot. I attended "Camp of Champions"... Devoe's camp for several summers...We stayed in a dorm within presidential courtyard during those camps and ate lunch in a dinning hall there. I must have been ~ 10 years old at that time. Anyway everyday after lunch my friend and I (2 spoiled white kids fwisw) would run into Reggie after we ate, always sitting on the same bench, and he never was anything but kind. He went out of his way to talk to us as I did not know him from Adam. I remember he would let us take a running start and punch him in the stomach as hard as we could...then he would laugh and laugh ...very fond memories. I do not know who pissed in your wheaties Hat, but give it a rest because youre displaying nothing but ignorance in this post. Reggie was and always will be nothing but vanilla, pure butter man. You realize that people whose perspective is as negative as yours seems to die at a significantly younger age then those whose outlook is more positive. No **** not being funny. You can either find everything that is wrong bout the world or not your choice. I understand that you think you are being a realist, but youre really being a pessimist... think about it. Last time I will ever respond to you, but you often set the tone in many threads and to be honest that negative tone is why I avoid almost every thread. We are trying to do the best we can and consistent persistent negativity is less than helpful. Find a dog to kick!
White had 16 sacks his junior year and 32 his senior season? If not, your assertion is incorrect and without value.I love how Hat called out Freak for not producing numbers for his career, and then when Freak does he completely ignores them and the fact that he doubled his sack total at Tennessee every year on the year.
Now I'm going to sit back and let him insult me in his underhanded overbearing way that he calls wit.
Yeah, I always ascribe greatness to guys who manage to offend pretty much every ethnic group on the planet with their bigoted ignorance.
