RW headed back to UT

So, we're dogging Reggie for not reaching his potential until his senior year? That's what seems to be happening here. Reggie had seventeen sacks in his first three seasons, then exploded for fifteen his senior year. I assume that the assertion is that anyone who isn't a star from day one is dogging it until the begin to perform. Correct me if I'm wrong Hat. I refuse to take logical leaps like the one you've made because he never dogged it as a pro. Clearly Haynesworth is one to dog it because he did it in college and the NFL, so that's not a leap. I'm not looking for a fight, but criticizing him for not being a football god from day one seems...fallacious. JMO. :hi:

Reggie White?!

Don't we wish...

I remember reading a story about Reggie when he was with Green Bay. Don't remember the opponent, but apparently, Reggie leveled the opposing teams' QB. Reggie gets up...sticks his hand down to help the QB up...and says "Jesus loves you, man."

The opposing QB responds "I know that, Reggie, but why do YOU hate me so much?"

To this day, I laugh about that one.

Class act. All Vol. All heart.

What we could do with a team full of "Reggie's"...

Go Vols.

Yeah. Reggie had a ton of run ins with coaches, players and practice no-shows, just like Big Al. Another comparison to add to your list of bad comparisons.
They're both malingerers who only played all out at UT when it was time to chase cash. Period. The rest of your post is just noise.

Saw every home game he played at UT. Up to the LSU game in '83, he was an inconsistent, talented goldbricker.

hat...you gotta lose the hate, man. Seriously.

You and I have bumped heads more than once, and we still have an outstanding wager, but you are intelligent enough to realize that all those bitter grapes...whether directed at me, Reggie White, Derek Dooley, or whomever...are the product of a troubled soul. Yours.

It's all about love, brother. Love for your fellow man, whether you agree with him or not. No...I'm not a bible-thumper. At best, a back-row Baptist. And I've thrown more than my share of stones here, and in life as well.

It's just that I read your posts...and I see a rapier wit; a well-educated poster; and perhaps one who always sees the half-empty glass. I could be wrong.

Won't be the first time, right?

YouTube. Go watch Kris Kristofferson's "Eighth of November" video. If you get through it with dry eyes, then there's no hope for you.

If not, then I was right about you.

I need three wins in two years, hat....and I believe.

Go Vols.

How is an objective view of a guy's career at UT bitter? For one half of a season, he was the greatest defensive lineman in SEC history. For the rest of his career, he was a massive underachiever.

I have no way of knowing whether Reggie played "all out", but I do remember him contributing as a freshman and following that up with a pretty solid sophomore season. I think he was named pre-season All-America heading into his junior season based off of that performance. Pre-season awards don't mean anything, but it shows he turned a few heads the prior year.

I'm pretty sure injuries limited Reggie during his junior season.

Michael Munoz was named to an All American team after that terrific senior season he had. That shows the credibility of those teams.

What a shock. The Crappanoogans are out in force to defend their bigoted, maligering patron saint.

Reggie had the same problem a lot of good players have coming out of high school, they believe they are ready for the SEC.

The summer before his Jr. year, he really started to get it.
The coaches told him he had the potential to be great, but had to put in the work, which he did.

Whether or not you agree with his selection, RW had pretty solid freshman and sophmore years IMO. Maybe you have higher expectations for underclassmen on the defensive line.

Why? Are you a fan of guys who malinger for three and a half seasons, then bust their ass when it's cash drive time?

really??

.............. really?

I actually enjoyed watching him play when I was at UT.
A really great player and a great person.

i mean........ really???

I don't think it's a "problem". How many are ready to play defensive line in the SEC as freshman?
