I have a hard time understanding why anyone who is anti Trump would leak them. Makes no sense because everyone knows that Trump and Fox would spin it as proof of deep state.

Time will tell.

To prompt an RR firing?

To cause more turmoil in the administration?

Given who would access to this information each are more likely than your scenario that somehow pro-Trump people had this information.

The stated reason will be false. A lie. Like the lie he told about firing Comey because he was unfair to Clinton!! No one bought that. And sure enough he could not help himself and said was because of the Russia hoax.

He has tried to block and undermine it more times than I can count. Manafort and Cohen have turned on him. His own lawyers don't trust him to talk to Mueller. He knows the conclusion is near, and it will be bad. So he's going to nuke it. Might as well. He has nothing to lose.

The notion that some folks think he is dangerously unstable is not new. This adds nothing to that.

The value to Trump with his base is on point. Better to kill the investigation and try to hang onto power with his base on board because he's picked on by the deep state than have the full truth come out from Mueller.

His odds of surviving the former are not great. The backlash even within the GOP will be strong. But he might be able to pull it off.

The odds of being able to survive the latter are next to zero.

I'll ignore all the problems with the above and get back to the point: how would Team Trump have credible access to this information that just happens to also be in McCabe's memos?

This NYT piece is probably garbage to get Trump pissed off enough to take the bait. It’s a set up.
