'Elon sold out': Twitter users in meltdown over new CEO Linda Yaccarino's take on free speech - as video remerges showing she is a Pro-Mask, Pro-Vaxx Campaigner

Twitter users have slammed Elon Musk for 'selling out' after a video re-emerged showing the social media platform's new CEO campaigning for pro-mask and pro-vaccine initiatives.

Musk was forced to jump to the defense of new Twitter chief Linda Yaccarino on her first day on the job after a separate video also saw her raising the possibility of allowing advertisers to have influence over the platform's content.

All it would take would be for Twitter to ban conservatives again, and about 3 posters would be in here back in love with it🤣

Listening to a 6-part pod about the takeover of Twitter. A few claims in ep. 1 that I didn't know about:

- Musk's ex was pissed about Babylon Bee suspension and asked him to buy Twitter and take it down.
- retired Jack Dorsey called Musk and told him he thought he should be a part of Twitter and said that he tried to put him on the board but the rest of the board wouldn't have it.
- Once on the board, Musk was hurting Twitter with Tweets like "Twitter is dying" and the CEO asked him to stop and Musk flipped out and said he didn't want any part of the board.

Ep. 2

- I had forgotten he chose to forego due diligence on the acquisition, lol
- he texted his Morgan Stanley guy that Russia/Ukraine was concerning and may need to break Twitter deal
- then he started with the fake bots stuff. I don't remember this, but he claimed as much as 90% of users could be fake

- Elon's "goons" (his trusted core that came with him on the takeover) created a Slack channel to discuss layoffs and they apparently didn't know how to make the convo private, so the whole company was seeing the discussions.
- Jack Dorsey took blame for the layoffs, saying he grew Twitter too fast.
- Elon's ultimatum to the remaining employees which was seemingly a rallying cry, resulted in 1200 employees not agreeing to his new terms, which put his goons in a huge scramble to save many crucial employees.
- the Twitter files doxxed people, including Jack Dorsey's email.
- Jack Dorsey urged Elon to release everything in the Twitter files so the whole truth could be told, instead of carefully filtered information.
- Elon initially said that the flight tracker account was protected by his free speech policy.
- When some journalists were banned for sharing links to articles that Musk considered to be doxxing, other journalists had a conversation on Twitter Spaces about it. Elon showed up and didn't like the questions and comments that demonstrated his hypocrisy, and he left the chat, and suddenly Twitter Spaces was shut down.

Don't have a Twitter account so I don't really keep up with how it works, but are there people on here paying to get your "checkmark?" What is the value in doing that now that it's "pay to play?"

Idk what all the benefits are, but supposedly you get better placement with your posts. I think you have to have it for API access.

They're still having issues with impersonators abusing the system. One of the dumbest moves ever. Could've had a whole different system for user verification and they co-opted and ruined something that was useful

Who is willing to admit I was totally right about everything for the last year? It was clear he had no idea what he was talking about with speech. I wish I could enjoy this more, but it's a damn shame.

Final episode of the pod series was a bit uneventful.

- Musk had a team of coders scrambling to figure out why engagement was down on his posts. The guy who correctly informed Musk it was because he's losing popularity was fired on the spot.
- Jack Dorsey finally turned on Musk and said he lost faith in him. (And invested in another platform, so tifwiw)
- Musk caves to authoritarian governments (after saying he would uphold free speech even in the face of Russian gunpoint)

They still got you.

They still got you.

Who, Twitter or the podcast?

Would you be happier if I boycotted Twitter? I did that after Dorsey left and before Musk took over. I largely did it because they banned my best friend in one of those mass algorithm bans. I put the app back on my phone because of the Musk takeover. Despite my disappointment with his reign, I'm still there, even though they have not allowed my guy back. I think you're probably pretty confused about my position.
