Exactly the boosters and administration that think the revenue profits will be bigger in SEC are coreect. But 10 years from now those same Oklahoma and Texas power people will reflect on their move and for competitive balance will have their feelings hurt. Even if playoff goes to 12 teams there wont be a spot for the 7th best team in the SEC. Meanwhile Ohio State will be in Big 10 winning 2 games of consequence a year and making the playoff. Same with USC where Riley is headed. Much easier path to big time success.Oklahoma, despite their historical success, is not a better landing spot than Tennessee. They are entering the SEC and their schedule just got exponentially harder; it's one of the big reasons Lincoln Riley left. He did NOT like that OU was entering the SEC. In other words, he was scared. Staying at OU would have been bad for his coaching career. Success is no longer a guarantee at OU and the job just got way more difficult. It is one of those locations that is hard to recruit at/to and they just entered by far the hardest conference in the land. I predict Oklahoma is on a sharp downturn.
And no coach that goes there will have an easy road. Oklahoma is just not a tasty job right now.
He's a good friend to help his buddy get a raise by talking him up, OU doesn't want him, but UT can't take a chance.....Dvoracek is a friend and former teammate of Heupel’s at OU. He still lives in Oklahoma and is close to the program. He and Danny Kannell have a radio show on XM 84 in the mornings. All season he’s gone out of his way to talk up the job Heupel has done here. About an hour ago he made his case for Heupel to be in consideration for the OU job. Said he should be a top 3 candidate.
I’m good with that. My only concern is that Bob Stoops comes to Heupel hat in hand and tells him that he was wrong and that OU needs Heupel to comeback and win a title just the way he did when he was QB. If they really want Heupel and start pulling at the heart strings I feel like that would make it a very difficult decision. I’m not saying that will happen, but it’s not out of the realm of possibility. He's a good friend to help his buddy get a raise by talking him up, OU doesn't want him, but UT can't take a chance.....
To your point, he would only be in the big 12 while Texas and Oklahoma are in it. He would get to go to the sec if he coached ouI don’t understand the concern with CJH leaving for Oklahoma and the Big 12 … soon to be arguably the weakest of the Power 5 conferences. Once Texas and Oklahoma leave that conference who’s left of note? The SEC is currently is and will continue to be the premier conference by miles and now that CJH has made it to the Big Leagues I don’t see him leaving voluntarily for quite a while. Go CJH and Go GBO … Gator Bowl or Bust!

Really apologize for “auto spell” 10 year show cause? Figures and no thanks. He was away longer than that and came back and managed to screw it up again. You have not read my post. You might want to do so before making false statements. I have suggested in the past that Fulmer get a ten year show cause so this program can heal. And our coach’s name is Huepel.
Heupel hides it with his friendly, aw-shucks persona but IMHO he is uber competitive. I am certain getting fired did not go well. Stoops would probably be wise to look elsewhere if he plans to keep his hand in the OU football program over the long term."[The firing] gave me a chance in some ways to restart and relook at what I wanted to do on the offensive side of the football," Heupel said. "As a coordinator, you're always going to try to carry out your head coach's vision."
During his first year as UCF's coach in 2018, Heupel shared his perspective on his firing with the Orlando Sentinel. "Thank God it happened! It's worked out great for me," he said. "If I had stayed there, I wouldn't be here."
Heupel's relationship with Stoops has been labeled as "frosty", according to a report in The Athletic.
Yeah Heup is frosty AF
Yes the town and surrounding area is ugly but the stadium and facilities attached to it are top notch. The atmosphere from a tailgating standpoint and buzz around campus, in 2014,I've been through Norman a few times and that is one ugly boring town. It can't begin to compare to Knoxville.
If you where going to give America an enema you'd stick the hose in Norman.
In today's world it's almost impossible to win a conference championship without a Heisman-caliber QB. The only way to do it is the way Georgia is about to do it... Could Stoops build that kind of defense at Oklahoma? That is the question. Because a great QB isn't going to sign up to play for him.I know Mark Stoops to OU seems to be in many ways a good fit, but I just don't think Stoops can handle a place with actual NC expectations. He's a done a great job at UK but I think that's a perfect place for him because he's been the best since Bear Bryant yet nobody actually expects him to ever win the SEC or a national championship.
He goes to a place like OU or LSU, I just see him being another Mullen.
I don’t see how it’s hard to recruit to. OU can fill 1/2 to 2/3 of their class from TX (metro Dallas alone) and Stoops and Riley both had success dipping into SoCal/west coast and attracting kids. If you’re a highly rated TX prospect you really have 4 choices to choose from; TX, AM, OU and LSU and OU is as close to Dallas as it is Austin and College Station. Riley’s 5 recruiting classes, including this one prior to the de-commitments, averaged 10th in the country. In that time frame, he’s had 45 guys not from their typical geography of OK or TX; good for 9 per year.Oklahoma, despite their historical success, is not a better landing spot than Tennessee. Heup has bad blood with how they treated him last time he was there and he has started a good thing here with people he likes and Heup and Dany White are boys. If he left, it would be harder on him and his family. And no coach that goes there will have an easy road. Oklahoma is just not a tasty job right now. Heup would be dumb to leave what he has already started.
