Riley to USC…the inevitable Josh Heupel to OU freak out thread

🤔 who? Historically speaking what has this person been right on before? My experience of insiders on here has been MITBeaver and the Middlesboro guy. Both have most of us gun shy about thebinside connections. I have never heard of the Sara Clark. Not saying DOX the person but what have they been right about before?

Plenty. You'll have to skim through one of the old Gruden threads for details. I think it was TOJGT 40 or 41.

She's not a typical insider but she gets things done.

I don’t know if Heupel is THE guy or not, he certainly gained my respect and admiration this season. This staff did an excellent job with what they had to work with. The most impressive thing imo, is the fact that Heupel seems to have fixed the culture issue, for the most part. With that said, I really don’t think I can go through the craziness of another coaching search, especially another one after only one season. I’m older now and just don’t appreciate all the drama and nonsense like when I was younger. And like with Kiffin, I don’t want to constantly be thinking about what could’ve been.
GBO!!

"[The firing] gave me a chance in some ways to restart and relook at what I wanted to do on the offensive side of the football," Heupel said. "As a coordinator, you're always going to try to carry out your head coach's vision."

During his first year as UCF's coach in 2018, Heupel shared his perspective on his firing with the Orlando Sentinel. "Thank God it happened! It's worked out great for me," he said. "If I had stayed there, I wouldn't be here."

Heupel's relationship with Stoops has been labeled as "frosty", according to a report in The Athletic.

Yeah Heup is frosty AF

I miss the Beav. The Gruden threads were the most fun I’ve ever had on this board. It was epic

I'm genuinely asking, who was the last 1st round talent from USC? I can't think of one.
Edit: looked and forgot about Darnold whose overrated like past qbs there, and a couple linemen I've never heard of. They're nowhere close to OK draft class in recent years.

USC: 6 1st round picks since 2015.

OU:. 5 1st round picks since 2015.

In his memoir "No Excuses", Stoops called Heupel the most valuable player he had in his 18 years OU.

"With Josh, it especially killed me," Stoops wrote. "… Firing Josh was [my] worst day … as the head coach at OU."

I was on the Sooner board, and they mentioned that LSU offered $12 mil, and that Oklahoma was working to match that offer. Apparently (from Sooner board) USC offered north of $12 mil...I think since USC is a private school, they don't have to disclose salaries...

That Friedman account isn’t real it’s basically fake news. Said Beamer was leaving Carolina for VA Tech

Sorry -- I should have typed that in blue. The name "W. Keith Friedman," the profile picture resembling a Civil War general more than a sports journalist, and the fact that his tweet was posted here by someone who registered last November (!) with the username "Pruittwinner" all aroused my suspicion 😁

This is why I am glad we have Danny White. Heupel builds his legacy with US. Just because a guy plays for a school that doesn't mean that's his dream job. Personally, I'd want to be in a system with people I enjoyed and one with a vision. I believe the connection between our AD and coach is a really good thing,

If Heupel bails on White after 1 year, he’s not the man we think he is. White has done far more for Heupel at this point in his career than anyone at Oklahoma ever did. I think CJH stays. He’ll get a big raise ( sorry, but that’s the market these days). White is a strong AD and someone you want on your side.
