Restaurant chains ban open carry

Actually, the dispute in Texas where a lot of this is going on has to do with restrictions on open carry as to handguns. Apparently, you can open carry rifles, but not handguns.

This makes the John Wayne wannabes very upset.

When I was in high school, it was nothing strange about seeing a shotgun or rifle in the back glass of a pick up truck.

Why are you so scared of guns?

Not nearly as much fun. Can't bully anyone if you can't display it.

You're reaching again. There's nothing about the mere act of open carry that makes it "bullying". Actually, if it could be reasonably argued that real bullying (and not your imaginary kind) with a firearm would constitute some form intimidation/brandishing and be illegal.

That was a very common in East Tennessee. I have no problem with open carry laws. I do think those that choose to do so use a little common sense.

He's not. This is bait on the troll hook. You can find mutiple threads started by him with this theme.

Actually, WE can find those because we now how to search. LG can't judging by his inability to read about the Heller decision.

The mere act?

Come on. If you don't think the vast majority of these yahoos want to walk around being a big shot because they've got a gun on their hip you are delusional.

These are a combination of unpopular nerds from high school media club and rednecks. Open carry is for the openly pathetic.

Open carry is legal on Oklahoma. And I have yet to see some one doing it.

I think some of these restaurants are looking for publicity.

Back glass of a pick up does not equal at the ready on the hip of eminent doofus in line at Chipotle.

I think these restaurants don't want the bad publicity of some idiot shooting up the joint because someone stole his seat.

No I mean anyone who openly carries, they are all trying to make a point. If you're not a cop, there's no need to have a .357 openly strapped to your waist. Chipotle isn't the O.K. corral.

Still a separate issue in my mind. I don't find OC particularly appealing regardless of what's being carried but where legal I don't take any great notice of someone that's OC'ing a handgun. Why would you assume anyone that's OC's is doing so to make a point? It's actually much easier than CC from a practical standpoint. I don't care for it myself but I'm not going to make a habit of inferring what everyone I come across that OC's is thinking.

Yeah. I always shoot up Taco Bell over a seat.

Will you try and be realistic?

Some will fit your description and others won't. At the absolute least you're guilty of painting with too broad a brush. I'm almost (sarcasm) positive you've admonished others here for doing things like that, right?

So, why did you state you would have to leave the gun in your car and potentially be stolen by a criminal, or leave it home, because said restaurant banned open carry? You would neither have to leave it at home, nor leave it in the car. You'd just need to tuck it under your shirt, which both your carry permit and (apparently) the restaurant would allow.

Tell me again why you are boycotting these decisions?

They can ban anything they want, as a permit holder if I want to walk in with my gun open I will. Its perfectly legal for me to open carry. If it makes these weak liberals feel uncomfortable then I am uncomfortable spending my money there.

Dude shot and killed a guy for irritating him by texting in a movie theater. If you don't think that kind of thing will be more and more common, then you might consider that it is you not being realistic.

Vast might be overstated. But surely the substantial majority are doing it out of ego, not some vague sense of self protection.

I think that is why the NRA initially disavowed the group. Who wants to be associated with open carry protestors?

I mean, just look at 'em.

What was that about having to leave your gun in the car to get stolen by criminals-- posted by a concealed permit holder?

Brother, you don't want to go on record endorsing a policy of non-association based on appearance of a group.

Have you looked closely at a pic of feminist, protestor harpies lately?

That and a few guys making a point that they can open carry which does give ammo to those wanting more gun laws.

Initially I missed the "open" part of his post. But that still does not change my position of not visiting these places.

If someone chooses to openly carry versus concealing, they are trying to make a point. The point could be don't **** with me, look how anti establishment I am or I feel insecure and need to outwardly project compensation.

Irrespective, they are all 'points being made' when if the goal was personal protection a concealed firearm would have sufficed.

People who can conceal but choose not to and whine because a private business tells them no thanks are idiots.

Just conceal the damn thing...

Again, depends. Do you mean specifically the Chipotle bunch or any open carry anywhere by anyone?

I mean, come on man, do you REALLY want us to make assumptions about you based on anything we can find on any given group of lawyers?
