12 class is mitchell or bust

With playing above their talent level this year, and recruits seeing that Martin can coach, I'm expecting a decent class, with less "team fillers". This team has far exceeded my expectations this year.

the 12' class wont bring much hype, but will be solid depth guys IMO. '13 will be the class that really has the potential to bring in some top tier talent. a couple guys he is in on are nba talent.

well scout doesnt have us listed

if you have a scout profile theres an article from a month or so ago, when asked of school recruiting him he lists georgetown, ole miss, memphi, miss st, arkansas, and louisville.

on his recent trip to louisville he really talks about what a great time, and enviornment it was. he really hit it off with dieng, there center who i believe is also from nigeria.

TIFWIW

Calban has said (and he's been all over his recruitment) that we are still a contender.

I hope so, im not trying to shoot things down if we're still in it, just saying what scout/rivals is saying, and telling ya who he has listed when asked.

i hope we land this guy because he'd be an awesome interior play imo, but i just dont get a great feeling.

if i had to predict 4 for '13 right now im going to say:

landry
bowles or munson
thornwell or stephens
nichols

in all honestly though it really is just too early to get an accurate feel.

Kingsley has not mentioned UT in his last couple interviews. Doesn't mean we are out of it, but it means we are not on his immediate radar as of now.

For 2013, I see something like this...

PG Travon Landry
SG One of DJ Bowles (a combo G), Markel Crawford, or Deshaun Munson
SF Sindarius Thornwell or Quinton Stephens
PF Austin Nichols

...and then probably a player not on our radar yet because that always seems to happen.

This is me being realistic with the thought we likely miss on Nick King, Robert Hubbs, and Jonathon Williams III. If you land one of them, it makes a solid class a really good class.

Damn Chris you hijacking my prediction haha jk. This is realistically exactly what I called for as well, and as you said hope we can pull king, that's be epic.

Another key roster note that year will be stokes. Getting him to come back could be bigger than bringing in another recruit, just saying.

Wouldn't write Kingsley off just yet. He made the same statements about Louisville that he made about Arkansas after visiting.

Bright kid who values education above sports and wants to pursue an engineering degree.

Tennessee has a pretty good engineering program.
Brother in law graduated engineering program at TN, assistant city manager in Knoxville and built one of the water treatment plants while he was there. was city manager in Dunedin FLA for years and now has his own company.

Push TN as the program that's going to become the KY nemesis in the next few years and get him one on one with Yemi. We've still got a shot.

kid's tearing it up this year:

I really hope we can, I would LOVE to have this guy in orange.

Yeah, I hear ya. It just appears that we are down on his list as of now. It's a long time till November if he signs early. Not suggesting we are done with him or vice-versa. We just have some work to do to garner his interest again.

I think CCM will find his in and exploit that while being real with him. Honestly, IMO if he chooses Pitino over CCM and others... I would be somewhat surprised

Can anyone tell me about Jalen Lindsey he is a 2014 pospect. Saw on twitter Coach Zo is going to watch him play tonight.

Jalen Lindsey
6'6" 180lbs
Franklin, Tennessee
#23 player in the country
#6 sf in the country

Strengths:
Jalen is another smooth operator with freakish athletic ability. He excels on the break where he is a highlight waiting to happen. He has great size and length already for a wing. He has a very good skill set and very limited wasted motion on the court. Jalen is an excellent athlete and pulled off one of the best dunks in camp (Super Soph Camp) where he took off outside of the lane for a monster flush. He is a solid shooter with range to 20 feet. Lindsey is athletic enough to defend both wings positions as well.

Weaknesses:
He generally prefers to drive left even though he is right handed which can be predictable. At times Lindsey seems to lose interest in the game which directly affects his production in a negitive way along with his effort and energy. Strength is a big issue right now and with added strength will also come confidence. He needs to make his outside shot more of a weapon and will need to improve his ball-handling skills as he makes the transition to the wing.

Bottom Line:
Lindsey has all the tools to become a prime time player in the Class of 2014. He has nice length, understands the game, plays with passion and determination, and has first class athleticism. He is young for his class which bodes very well for his future endevours. He has always been able to out-athlete his peers on the floor, yet he has a nice grasp on his basketball future and knows what it takes to step up to the next level.

how many can we sign in 2012... 4? 5? so only 1 or 2 more spots open? oh yeah but CCM insinuated some people wouldn't be back.

4 or 5??? Where are you getting this?

We have 13 on scholarship that's the limit, only tatum and Woolridge leave that gives us 2. We have 2 signed next year so we have 0 left.

Someone may leave but right now we have 0 available, and definitely won't have 4 or 5 available. You can only have 13 on scholarship.

yeah my bad. Rivals says we have 3 committed including stokes. so I was wondering about maybe 1 or 2 more. So unless a couple don't get renewed we got what we got.

Do you know anything about juco player D. Edwards?

Not a whole lot. Seems like a decent player, probably since hell be a junior will have the talent and experience to compete for a starting 2/3 spot next year.

The Kenny Hall situation could change things...

I've heard nothing that'd make it seem he wouldn't be back next year, just that he may not be back this year.

With that said I still expect to see a string push for Mitchell, but probably noone else this class.

Martin said last week that he wasn't sure if we would bring him back this season or not. He said nothing about next year. There was room for both ways in his comments. I would like to know what he did tbh. Interesting situation for sure.

I don't think it was a failed drug test because Tatum is still playing lol.

Great call.

I don't see it changing much.

We are in on Mitchell as a post for '12, that's it. For starters Kenny will be back, I'm 99.99999% sure of this, BUT let's say he screws up and doesn't come back.

I don't think we go out and try to get anyone other than mitchell. So either way with or without Kenny we will go after Charles Mitchell. However, if Kenny is gone and we miss on Mitchell I still don't see us going after anyone.

I don't see CCM wanting to just add another scrub big man like a miller just for the heck of it. I'd guess he'll just roll with what we have with stokes, maymon, miller and yemi and save the extra scholarship for the class of '13 where we are in on some big time guys.

I was told UT was in the house to see Hubbs last night. I think they saw what they came to see. He went for 26 in the game.
